im comparing both without actually comparing them...
not comparing the technical specs. where obviously the cbr would leave the 15 behind..
comparing other stuff like operating cost, etc.
don't want to start all over again talking about the advantages though.
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

If you're in a hurry just get the R15 or else you can always wait to make a proper choice.
Bingo. I still remember how I delayed my bike purchase for Ninja's launch. Everyone was pretty sure about sub 2 lac price of Ninja 250R. Only to know that the actual price of Ninja was tad higher. I picked R15 and rode happily ever after .
Wait and watch and keep fingers crossed.

Thanks alot guys for your suggestions and comments..

I can't quote everyone but i agree with almost everyone is some way or other. Yes the comaprison was vague coz one bike exsists and other doesn't.. Also the thing that for good things you have to wait I totally agree.. but that comparison is just what my state of mind is

Now I have read every blog an post over the comparisons, and since the time r15 is launched i have thought of it and then stopped for any bigger sportier thing to come, then ninja happened and i has to stop again coz of price tag.

All the comments have only highlighted the things which are inside my conscious so i can't say that my confusion has gone. But i wasnt expecting that someone will give me clear cut idea, but sometime u want someone to add logic to your instinct

Now i m saving for 600CC segment, an it will take another 1-2 yrs so till then i need some real sports taste.. As ken da said and i checked too CBR250R is a sports tourer.. the sitting posture mite b like p220 then it mite not gimme the racing feel i want...

so the thing is still blurry and ya as few people pointed out it mite turn up a long wait and a good fortune..

I visited the R15 showroom yesterday to finally check what i feel and i am still not sure. One thing is sure as the forum is helped me decide is i wont be selling my p200, it will still be my steed for indian conditions as i wont be taking out my R15 (yes you got it, i am going for it now ) daily.

So I think that is all .... Yamaha its going to be.. I don't want to wait too much. It may happen that a better bike mite come, soon too,, But I am sure i won't be regretting over yamaha.

Thaks Ken-da for the approval and all the guys for your comments. As soon as i complete my purchase ( maybe before weekend).. will post the pics

PS: if anyone has any good discount ideas or suggestions for purchase in delhi - NCR please let me know.
Only thing Gods envy of mortals is that they ride.

If you have the money & the patience, wait for the Honda250 to hit our shores, or atleast till we have a proper review of the bike available to us in India.
The Honda250 looks more promising than the R15 on paper. Wait to see how it compares with the R15 on road (I'm not comparing the 2 here. Just stating it based on your dilemma)

The powerband of the R15 doesn't start at 90. It begins at over 5-6k RPM.
Maybe you should take your friends bike for another day. & yes, don't forget to ride it this time around.

Of the 17k my R15 has done, 15k must have been for intra-city commutes. The torque isn't great, but the lack of it is overshadowed by the smoothness, power delivery etc of this awesome piece of Yamaha Craftmanship.

Let me see if I can locate this on their website.
Else, you will have to post it here (since you mentioned it)

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

^^ Such a deep thought provoking article. It really portrays the difference in characters of these 2 machines very lucidly.

i prefer a p220 Street beating R15 easily on any city road(not on track)....the fastest acceleration Bike... Dazzler is a more of a commuter bike...

                R15 or CBR250R?

Hello everyone! I am Shivaprasad from Bangalore and this is my first post in the "What bike" section.
I am 5'9" and weigh 67kg. I am upto buying a good sports bike. I will be using this for weekend rides, occasional commuting and occassional touring(with my wife). I expect a mileage of 30+ kmpl.

I have shortlisted R15 and the upcoming CBR250R as the options to choose my bike from. The price difference of Rs.50k in Bangalore is within my budget. That said, I have booked both the bikes and while I wait for their arrivals, I am working out very hard to choose one.

I had a ride on R15 for half a day and the joy of it must only be experienced. I liked its race-bred technology, handling, braking, stability. Feature wise, I am atracted by its Diasyl engine and its deltabox frame. Its light weight and agility is awesome. The razor sharp looks are killer.
Though, the sitting posture needs getting used to. The engine felt a bit rough I being an Unicorn user. And its high set rear foot pegs can be uncomfortable to my wife especially over long rides.
In short, it is a total "sports bike" and is delivering the best it can.

I like the CBR's comfort, bigger engine and more power. At an extra cost of Rs.50k (which is not a burden to me) it sounds a better deal. But I do not like some aspects of the bike. It lacks that premium bike feel like R15 does. While R15 shares its headlights and indicators and overall looks with R1, CBR shares its switch gears and head lights with Unicorn . Also, the rear has no exclusivity, the bike looks an overgrown Hero Honda Hunk from rear. The exhaust is a bit oversized. It does not have the sports bike proportions when viewed from the front like R15 with its twin headlights. R15 looks mean and broad. The CBR in my mind is nor a real CBR but a better Karizma. Being a 150CC engine, R15 revs till 10500 that matches the CBR which has bigger 250CC engine. In this sense, CBR is detuned. In short, CBR is good but not delivering its best. Also, the CBR's engine and frame are not high-tech as R15 rather basic.
But holding me for CBR is its Honda's signature smooth engine, bigger capacity, fatter tires, more power and more comfort.

With all these I am very much confused what to choose. I humbly request you all to help me make a decision.

                Thank you.

When you have so many doubts and negative thoughts about the new CBR,why did you even bother posting this query?

Even if you get yourself a CBR,it's for sure that you will be ogling at 'twin-catty eyes' of the R15...Your heart and mind, both are set for the R15 but because of the fuss going around about the new Honda, you have come here for suggestions..

                    Get the R15!

When deciding your ride its best to go with what your heart says.
Reading your post i see you like r15 and if so you should go for it.
and about the seating posture, trust me its one of the best things of the r15 and you'll surely adjust to it in 100-200 kms...

I think we should just hold on a bit! The moment auto jurnos get there hands on cbr250, we will surely have a shootout - 'cbr250r vs ninja250 vs R15' in all leading auto magazines This will clear all doubts.

i don't think that a stock R15 will officially get compared with a Ninja250R or CBR250R on performance front cuz we all know the result..few guys here might give some reviews after comparing both..

Completely agree with you buddy!! it does not make any sense to compare two bikes which are class apart. I am also stuck and in dilemma to decide and select one bike between R15 and CBR but my criteria is just based on the looks and would not dare to compare the bikes based on performance....
