Since I am not getting reviews about any other bike which I have mentioned, my list has been reduced to -
    1-CBR 150r
    2-P200NS
    3-Karizma R
4-RE Classic 350 (major cons with this bike??? )
5-Avenger 220 (I seriously want some inputs about this bike from you people, its like nobody wants to talk about this bike or something)

zmr is same old zma with more plastics and a injection of fi.
zma is now being retailed at 84-85k rs i guess.

avenger is good, city handling is not that great, but it is good at what it is meant to do.
and the question remains why do i race?

After going through all the sites where I could compare bikes and read reviews about them, I think XBHP is the best place for doing so. Cheers to xbhp and its creators.

I am a new member here. My height is ~6' and I weigh ~72kg.

First of all, I apologize for writing a long requirement list. I just don't want to end up with a wrong bike and regret for choosing it.

I am planning to buy my first bike (with budget of (100+-20)K) which could suit all my needs as mentioned below (in order of priority) -

1- Should be comfortable for long trips on weekends (by long trips I mean 300 to 600 kms). Considering the fact that I work whole day sitting in front of a computer, my back tends to rest in a curved position. The point is I don't want any back pains after or during long rides. I do not want to damage my sitting posture permanently and hence I think it would be good to straighten my posture while riding my bike after long working hours. Would also need a comfortable pillion seat.

2- Should be really great at speed, power, nice engine and handling.-
max speed near 125Kmph (without any vibrations)
                  engine-150 cc or above.
                  power near 17 bhp
Handling- like a good commuter. I would need to ride 27 kms through traffic jams every day to my office.

3- Should look "class apart" among other vehicles on road. By this I dont mean to sound like atypical person, its just that I dont want to buy a bike which you can spot anywhere every time you hit the roads.

4- Should have an avg. mileage . i.e not less than 30 kmpl

I have considered various bikes and read a lot of reviews on each of them . I have deduced certain cons on each of my pre-final contestants (PFB in order of priority).

Its really hard to find any negative review on following bikes (might be because bike owners rarely criticize their own bike or just because these bikes are really good)-(& bike owners of respective bikes- please dont get offended)

1- Avenger 220(I dreamed of owning 1 for a really long time)- I had to drop idea of buying this because
                  >> Its not really very comfortable for people with height more than 5'7 or 5'8. (and hence violates my highest priority clause by being uncomfortable)
                  >> Bad for city traffics due to its length and really bad for sharp turns (many a times bike's silencer gets rubbed on taking sharp right turns)
                  >> I have heard horror stories about Pro-biking and overall quality of parts (Odomtere, headlight, clutch wire and shocker going kaput).

2- Pulsar 220- violates my "look apart" clause mentioned above.
                  >>I dont mean to offend pulsar owners here. But I see 50% bikes on road with pulsar tags.
                  >>I heard that Bajaj engines have a life period of 2 years. (My friends told me that you can easily spot diff between a old and new pulsar by just listening to the sound their engine makes)

3- Apache RTR 180-Just loved the idea of having ABS in 2 wheelers. But -
                  >> I heard Apache series vibrates on higher speed.
                  >> And also, its not really comfortable for long rides.

4- R15 & Karizma ZMR- have read great reviews about it. But I had to drop idea of buying this too because
                  >> Sitting posture is too lean.(violates my clause 1)
                  >> I also heard that R15's pillion seat is not so great.

5- FZ16- Looks are really great. But I read from other reviews that it is-
                  >> Low on power
                  >> Low mileage
                  >> Biggest problem is that my friend has the same bike and has the same colour which I like (black). So don't have this option left for me.

6- Fazer - ditto (as it has the same specs as FZ16).

Recently, I heard that Honda has launched its CBR 150R. I heard it would cost around 130K INR and also that its waiting period would be 4 months from the date of booking (which is atrocious ). I can stretch my budget to have this bike, provided that you pro-bikers give positive reviews about it.

I do not claim to be sure of the aforementioned cons of each bike and hence, I request respective bike owners to correct me regarding the same. (I really need Avenger owners to tell me that all my cons on Avenger are wrong.)

Bikers, please help me out here.

                  Thanks and regards.
Sir, with all due respect, please realize the fact that none of the bikes in the market can fulfill ALL of the above mentioned requirements, you will have to compromise on one or two of the above. This is simply because any successful bike will be out in large numbers on the road and if it isn't out there in large numbers, it is quite EXCLUSIVE and exclusivity demands premium.

I would suggest you take a test ride of CBR 250r which in my opinion is a very good bike and not out on the roads in such large numbers. I own a p220-dtsi which is a very good bike as i've found out and no, there are no engine problems after 2 years; but it is fairly common (which you do not want).

You may also want to wait for the pulsar 200ns but be warned - Pulsar is defined as "common man's sportsbike" and somewhere in the near future it will be as common on the roads as is 220 now.

When i wanted to get a new bike, i was also adamant on the Exclusivity factor and at that point of time, 220 wasn't too common (read 3 years ago) but believe me... exclusivity really doesn't matter. What matters is the ergonomics and the reason for buying a bike. If you are really so adamant about standing out in the crowd, i suggest you buy yourself a really good piece of helmet (Sparx, KBC or something like that) but buy a bike that you really like to ride 365 days a year, common or not .

Best of luck selecting your bike

As per your requirements, P220 or ZMA should be the machine for you.

ZMA is a proven tourer. Meets all your requirements apart from looks. But still has a decent look. Great sitting position, can cruise all day long in 120 -125km/hr, can be used as daily commutes, reliable, FE > 30km/ltr(can claim this sine my 2004 ZMA stills gives an avg fe of 32)

P220 is also good. It looks mean to me, good speed stabiltiy, FE between 30 - 40 km/ltr, you get better features than ZMA at same cost.

                      Finally, decision is yours.

                          1. CBR 250 R (you have to stretch your budget a little bit )
                          2. DUKE 200 (almost within your budget)

if you need one VFM ; then my suggestion is

                          1.ZMA-R (less than 90 K)

it suits all your concerns; for the looks find the image of my bike.. its subjective.

                              True that.

I am now an official fan of xbhp . What really helped me were the unbiased opinions of pro-bikers here. Thanx alot guys for all your inputs.

Now I have to choose among the finals..
                                1-CBR 150R (coz i can't stretch my budget for 250R )
                                2-P200NS
                                3-Karizma R

I guess I am gonna have a test drive of aforementioned bikes.

                                The rest...
4-RE Classic 350 (major cons with this bike??? )
5-Avenger 220 (I seriously want some inputs about this bike from you people, its like nobody wants to talk about this bike or something)
