If you're in learning stage better use some other old bikes for that. The run-in time of a bike is very important, the engine has to settle down perfectly else the engine's good for nothing. Once the engine is perfectly set, then it lasts long for years. Better try to ride a used a bike for a month (use a 100cc bike if you're in initial stage else go for a 150cc bike ride at-least 20 km's a day), then you'll be familiar with riding the bike. And also try to learn how to handle your bike at extreme conditions. Ride in city traffics, highways, off roads and terrains. Then you can go for pulsar 200 NS. Because Pulsar 200 NS is a high speed engine, you should know how to control your bike at top speeds.

You can easily adjusted to turn the bike perfectly within a week.

Your height suits the bike well, in this you're blessed I'm just 5'8 need some effort to balance the bike .

The pillion seat is problem for old ones only :P, your girlfriend or wife will enjoy the ride

Maintenance of 200NS compared to its siblings is little bit expensive, If proper maintenance is provided, then no issues.

You can go for NS bro, You'll learn lot of things once you start riding. But always wear safety gears especially while learning.

1. I am still a beginner, in learning phase but eager to buy the bike, worried if my hurries will create problems for myself. Should I buy a 150cc bike instead?
2. Will get used to the turning thing.
3. Height is 5.10"
4. No gf neither am I getting married until next 3 years.
5. Not sure about maintenance, I have left that part to service centers Will I have to run to service centers often?

Since you're new to biking,you have learn to lot of things, I've listed some points for you.

1) Try to ride the bike slower until you learn to handle your bike at all conditions. (It's difficult to ride NS in slower speeds).

2) The NS has half-turning radius only, so it requires some more space to turn the vehicle.

3) You're height should be above 5'8 unless it's difficult to handle the bike.

4) The Pillion seat is uncomfortable, especially for ladies. So, better think about it.

5) The bike needs proper maintenance and the maintenance cost is somewhat higher than the P220 but lesser compared to Duke, R15.


All bikes have some pros and cons bro, if your heart says NS, just go for it. Soon you'll be adjusted to your bike (Practice makes a man perfect :P)

If you take care of your bike, then your bike will take care of you :P.

Haha nicely said. I went and got a TD today and now I don't give a shit about the minor problems faced in it. Oh man! that bike simply has a lot of power, gear shifting was smooth and nice ride control. Waiting to collect my money and buy in 1st week of Feb

Vibrations are due to need of engine oil change, believe me, bajaj dtsi oil is full of shiiit,
Just changed to motul 5 days before and my God, it isn't the NS I used to drive, and it's far greater than that NS which I brought.
About those problems the thread started are asked, remember there are some bikes known as LEMON ,which come defective from the factory, and it happens in every company.
Also this bike needs a little bit extra care then others,but then again you got yourself what duke gives at 50k more, it is STILL ECONONICAL
regarding MILEAGE, don't look for it if you're buying a 200cc bike,I'm getting 29-30 and I'm okay with it

If it is your first bike then one thing you pls confirm that whether you can handle the power and the high reving nature of this bike. If yes then you can have it as your first bike. And regarding mileage, it depends upon how you ride. BTW take a look on my history. I am constantly keeping a track of mileage.

For last one (40kmpl) I believe service centre has taken out some petrol, because I gave them 2 bar left and they returned it with fuel knob engaged in reserve position:what:

You will get used to the gear shifting soon, but try not to engage the top 2 gears when in city. Being a short stroke motor one needs to utilize different style of shifting on 200NS than typical commuters.

Atlast I bought my red color bull Friday @ Jai krishna Bajaj Coimbatore. The onroad price of the bike is Rs.1,01,658 + 50 delivery charges (Without center stand) Within 2 days I've ridden 200 km's .

Pros :

At 6th gear the bike runs very smoothly at the speed of 48 kmph. The bike's sound is awesome, I like that very much. It gives me confidence while cornering, Riding at highways is really superb ( Engine is butter smooth no vibrations).

Cons :

The bike seems to be vibrate at slower speeds and also the suspension is not so good (don't know the know). It's difficult to ride the bike in city because it requires frequent gear shifting. The stock tyres are good for daily commute . And also requires lot of space to turn the bike. There's no space in bike to carry some extra things. The seats are very hard and not good for long rides.

I'm riding the bike at 3200 - 3800 rpm and the top speed is 58 kmph @ 4000 rpm.






Bought a Vega Off-road helmet for rupees 1950.

I have yet to calculate mileage as I have just started using it.you can expect 35 -45 depending on how you ride it. Please take a test drive before finalising since this is your first bike and this is quite a powerful bike so first timers can be overwhelmed.

I am using the bike for the past 15 days . I was expecting the vibrations so no issue with that. I have driven 400 kms till date . Whenever I encounter even the slightest bump on the road , there is a small rattling sound from the front panel . However what is worrying me is that day by day, this rattling sound seems to be increasing. I inspected the bike and I don't see or feel any bolt is loose or anything like that . Now today , sound are coming even from the rear panel . What I am guessing is that the vibrations along with the stiff suspension is making the fittings loose . I am planning to buy an allen key set today as it is not provided with the tool kit and the head light and instrument assembly is fitted with allen screws . Has anybody else encountered this problem and solved it . Please let me know . Thanks in advance
