  • Suzuki Gixxer 155 or Pulsar 200ns?

Hello fellow riders.I'm going to buy my first firsthand bike, which means I owned a second hand bike earlier. It was a CBR 250R Non ABS version. The problem with that bike was that its seat was just too high for me.Only my big toes could touch the ground and it was way too heavy. So I've decided no more faired bikes for me (although I still love them).

My question is,should I buy a Gixxer or a Pulsar 200ns? My main concerns are 200ns quality. Whatever the reviewers online may say but the students in my college who have owned and ridden this bike for 2 years tell me Bajaj's service is not good here in Udupi(Karnataka). The bike itself is okay but after a year of riding the bike's chains make that familiar "Bajaj" sound.

The Gixxer 155 on the other hand is a new bike in the market so design flaws will only become known at least a year later. Please help me guys.

You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame. ~Robert Pirsig

    Query Approved

At 5'7" you are not short at all, i know of shorter people who easily handle bigger bikes.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

At 5'7 u are not at all short. 200NS is a lovely machine. I have clocked 5300kms in 5 months, mostly in long rides. I will list you the pros and cons of getting this. Dont know about the gixxer, as didnt get the chance to ride it yet.

      200NS
      Pros:
1). Powerful and in my opinion the best in its class currently.
2). Gives me an average of 40kmpl. Under hard riding around 35.
3). It has all the goodies of the latest bikes sans the Fi. But then again, carb is cheaper
      4). Looks great

      Cons:
1). Baja SVC was a major dissapointment. My trusted llocal mechanic does the work much better.
2). Vibrations at 6K RPM. Minor issue, learnt to live with it.
3). Tires suck. Ok for commuting. Bad for touring or long rides.

      Suggestions if u take NS:
1). Add a extra foam layer to seat. Helps ur bum in those long rides.
2). Change tires to a more soft compund one.
3). Get a double horn. Stock horn is very weak.
4). Dont expect the engine smoothness like yamaha or honda.
5). Get a motul chain clean and lube and DIY. Chain clean and lube after every 500 to 600 kms of run. U wont face chain problems.

Love ur Ride and keep it maintained, its what brings u safely back to home

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155 or Pulsar 200ns?

Its the length of your legs that matter the most in this case(200NS) than your actual height.
Me and my friend are both 5'8; my friend owns 200NS but his legs are shorter compared to mine and he can't touch the ground flat with his feet and this is a real problem considering the weight of 200NS.
so please sit on 200ns and test for yourself.

200ns is not at all for short heightened persons (pls don't take it offensively) .I know you can do everything ,but that one landmass where road is uneven, you'll go down for sure .
Pls first sit on ns, ride then decide ,because you may not be able to ride it because of height .
          Buy r15 v2 ,

You should check how much you are comfortable with pulsar 200ns's height.
I am 5.10 but still my both feet don't touch ground fully.

If you are comfortable with it then just go with NS.
Too much of a bike for its price.

Thank you for the detailed replies people. Yeah I think its best to take a test drive and find out if my legs are long enough. What about parts, paint and plastic quality of 200NS? Any rusting? And is it possible to change the rear tyre to a 140 or 150? I will fit a grippy rounded profile tyre because I corner a LOT. I know the 150 size tyre can be fitted on the Gixxer. So that's cleared for the Gixxer.

With the ns200 make sure you ask for the mrf tyres ... They will try to push the eurogrip tyres down your throat ... Trust me, Eurogrip is not what you want ... Rather, don't go for the bike at all ... The dealer will work it out.... Make him sweat for the sale 😉

On the other hand the Gixxer is more like the Yamaha FZ ... The bike bends dude ... The seating position is also awesome... The build quality is top notch ... You won't regret it .... Of course, cant compare a 155cc against a 200cc bike ...

Plastics parts are very good and paint quality is also good, better than older pulsars.
I don't think that someone has faced rusting problem, mine is around year old and there's no rust.
150 profile tyre can be fitted without any problem.

if yes, please tell me the exact tyre profile.

                          What is your inseam?

Well I am 171 cm with an inseam of ~80cm. Having ridden both 250r and 200 ns, I personally felt that the cbr was kind of easier to handle than ns. Both have equally wide seats but the suspension on ns does not sag as much.

                          Did you sell your cbr?

                            Hi Adnan,
Completed my 20k on 200NS last saturday.
                            So here it goes:
Buy it, you wont be disappointed.
Power is more than enough actually. Vibrations, are present only at 6k rpm and above it, it ceases to be an issue.
And what i personally like the most is that the bike is very throttle happy. It begs you to go faster, and hits its sweet zone on 70kmph or so.
Its good in traffic and the only issue on highways are cross winds.

I love gixxer. fell in love with it the first time i saw it in black.
Its an amazing product, which i do wish i could have ridden once.

The only suggestion i would give you is that you can go and take a td for both of these.
We can share our experience with the bikes, but at the end of the day, its you ho has to live eith it.

+1 to the above post. Test ride both the bikes to get the feel in real life situations and traffic. take a pillion to ride with you if possible.
Choose the one that suits you the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
