Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155 or Pulsar 200ns?

Well... Lets answer with peace itself..

Firstly, I am not sure of this problem coz when I rode one of the used pulsar 200ns, it was never swaying left... To check the swaying I actually took off both my hands for a very few seconds but it was going pretty straight.. Note: I wasn't trying ant stunt but was just checking for fork bending issues due to accidents..

Second point, even if there is an inherent issue, I am sure it won't be a show stopper or otherwise thousands of owners wouldn't have bought the bike... Soon I am gonna be one of them.. Have already booked and waiting for delivery in this week... Didn't want to inform at this forum this way.. Wanted to get the delivery and post the pics directly..

Third and last point - No manufacturer can guarantee a 100% perfect product.. Even Toyotas, Hondas and may be bigger companies have had recalls in the past.

No one is gaining anything out here by not giving out information. People suggest to help.. But ultimately the choice is yours...!!

bikerahul: Thank you for your honest opinion bro. Please do tell me your experience with minute details if possible. Everything from clutch play, gearshifts, throttle response (I have read that this bike has a problem of "losing power for a few seconds and then jerking back to life") to vibrations . Your experience will greatly affect my decision since I am not able to get a test drive because my exams are going on.

Sure Adnan Manna. I was supposed to get it today but it seems that manufacturers reduce their produce as its the last month of the year.. So hopefully I am getting a more recently produced model.. May be Dec'14 itself.

Will post the details only if I come across any issues.. Will also post a few pics as soon as it comes..

All the best for your exams.. I can imagine how much you'd be waiting for them to get over..

        Study well... Tc

A 1 hundred thousand rupee bike with such low level problems speaks volumes about the dedication of their QC staff and the company as a whole. And bikers who bought this bike must bring it to others notice before asking them/suggesting them to empty their pockets. Now I'm a bit skeptical about this bike. I'll take all advice with a bucket of salt from now on.
Don't know if it is relevant or not... my personal opinion.
Bajaj Discover 150 costs around Rs.51K to Rs.60K ex-showroom where as every other 150cc bike costs more than Rs.70K ex-showroom.
Bajaj 200NS costs around Rs.1 lac OTR where as Duke costs Rs.1.5 Lac
So is every other manufacturer looting customers? I don't think so. Quality and research is the answer.
About 200NS:
My friend rides NS, its been almost a year and this is what I observed and how it influenced my decision in buying my new third vehicle.
Test ride: Wow its so fast (once you feel this you will forget about everyother thing, because its absolute fun to experience such acceleration)
NS purchased: We travelled 458kms in a single day, It touched 140 - so much speed for a 1 lac bike - simply amazing.
Mileage: hovers between 33-39 - its a decent mileage for such a powerful machine.
Honeymoon period Over:
Vibrations: sometimes at footpeg, sometimes at handle, sometimes on left, sometimes on right.
Handling: The handle swaying - yes it is there for sure. Handling in heavy traffic is a bit difficult compared to almost all 150cc bikes. After riding through traffic for 5 kms I feel do we really need to work so much to travel just 5kms? Its like exercising in a gym.
Chain: Adjust it a tiny bit erroneous(normal error tolerance) it makes noise. Lasts around 10K kms. sometimes it makes noise all by its own.
Weight: you really feel it when you try to push it back while sitting. So much weight for a naked bike? where is the reverse gearrrrrr?
Engine: Now it resembles the hero of the movie "APARICHIT"; sometimes it behaves good, sometimes it feels OKish, sometimes it is worst with low acceleration, loss of top end, vibrations, heat, Gap at certain RPM ranges. No service center in our nearby cities not even Hyderabad center could solve this problem. The funny and surprising thing is all these problems come and go automatically.
Braking and Tyres: Braking was brilliant for the fisrt 15k kms and despite changing both the DISC and Pads and Fluid, new tyres(MRF) current braking is horrible. Rear disc brake - what is it? Tyres are OK, everyone calls Eurogrips as euroslips but they are not that bad. Lasted around 16K kms until the grip is unmanageabley lost.
Spares: Sir we will put an order and it will arrive in 1 week. There is no Oil filter O-ring available, we have to use anabond to stop the leaking from the oil filter cap.
Speed: The deceiving speedometer which makes you think you are flying. The error comes into play after 60kmph and the error increases with speed. If your speedometer shows 135kmph the phone GPS shows around 120kmph. why so much tricks by Bajaj?
Aerodynamics: The most annoying and irritating thing about NS.
Bottomline: Its fast absolutely fast; you are sitting on "some machine" that goes fast.

People - This is absolutely my personal opinion(my usage of bike, my riding habits, my place etccccc)and I am in my late 20's and I am writing this after riding the smoother vehicles like Ambition and Unicorn and getting used to their reliability. I know some things I said might not apply in some varying conditions like the city you are in and its traffic etc. Now I purchased GIXXER based on the above opinion and I am happy with it.

Is it a VFM vehicle? A) Is TVS Star city VFM vehicle than Splendor or Shine?

No debates please, spare me.

You are right bro. I'm finally going for Gixxer. Atleast they are ready to replace the rusted parts for free, and the bike doesn't have such comfort killing issues. Thank you everyone who helped me make my decision.

is it your final decision? :P Because final decisions come unexpectedly in a very unexpected form and time :P Anyway this choice is much better in my personal opinion if 150cc is okay for you And you wouldn't find it difficult if you keep calm and test ride every bike you want to/ see after your exams/work All the best Ride the bike before getting any bike!!

                    Hi,

The bike looks stunning. One can hate this product or love this product but cannot ignore it Love the idea of ribbon on the mirror during delivery. Have fun!

                    Thanks!

No, sir. I never made that comment with a view to force RTR. As far as I've seen, people come across a different product and change their decision in the last minute. Can't help if you took it that way. And I mention RTRs only in the 150-200cc what bike segments. Peace.

Unfortunately not... My dealer was a bajaj sub-dealer and did not have the advantage of choosing the tyres.. He got what the godown guys gave it to him. Fortunately there are no issues with the bike.. I think I will manage with Euroslip.. [emoji6]

If you check your posts on all What Bike section that you have posted, it only says that RTR is for everyone, You need to understand that people have different preferences and will eventually buy what they like. We provide them the pros and cons as per their choice, whereas recent posts only suggest that you want everyone to own RTR. It doesn't work that way.

Indeed as I mentioned I have been suggesting it in the 150-200cc segments. Also I have been mentioning its pros and cons related to the posts AND NEVER FORCED ANYONE TO OWN ONE BECAUSE I UNDERSTOOD THAT FINALLY PEOPLE WILL BUY WHAT THEY LIKE. I have posted in different other threads about different other scooters and bikes and I hope you come across them as you read through. So sir, I was only trying to highlight again what I've been trying to imply. If you're again going to take it in the way you want to, then, I can help not even a bit
