Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
Nope, the 390 is not comfortable for a pillion. Infact the pillion seat is so small that if you have a back pack on, the whole pillion seat will be covered with it. You can literally cover the full back seat with your open palm, it is that small. So if you are looking for pillion comfort CBR250R is your best bet. Choose the one with ABS.Originally posted by itsmridul View PostI would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Contacted the nearby Honda Dealer for CBR 250R. They said no model available to them and can't arrange any test drive. I have to book first and the bike will be delivered after 1 month.
Such lack of interest from their side!!!

Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
if a motorcycle is deemed good it will stand true till the time its sold. however over period of time multiple options come up.
some folks would find it become boring and no excitement over time.
cbr has been here for good 5 years now. sold well and running well for most of them. as far as commuting , highway rides and pillion comfort plus ease of service centers etc.
CBR is not an issue.
question is if you are ok to settle down with it for next 5-6 years. if not then you will have to carefully choose for options.
if your monthly running is less than 1000 km then you can even take a r3 or mojo and get it serviced 2 times a year.
brake pad change , chain setup , oil and filter change . you can do these yourself. nothing really difficult to learn. trust me."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
Nope. It's not comfortable for pillion. Even small blip in throttle ll push pillion back to ground. Even if he/she holding you tightly it's pain.Originally posted by itsmridul View PostIn fact I have a KTM SVC just 100 mtr away from my house. But would 390 be a comfortable one for a pillion?
You could adjust back suspension to your weight. I adjusted mine to softest possible one. It affects stability (not required here)
But front you can't adjust which ll give you body pain in bad roads. An scrap CT100 I bought for construction site is comfortable than my duke in bad roads.
It's awesome in highways, can munch miles just like that. Fun to drive. But couldn't drive in 3 digits without an after market windshield.
CBR 250 is better tourer than Duke Cz of its faired model.
Also Honda is maintenance free. I have an 5+ year Honda shine. Haven't serviced it properly but still runs perfectly. No breakdowns. Just gotta change wearing parts like brakes & even oil service is not done at correct time. Smooth & solid. "HONDA"Last edited by Shyam Cmr; 04-26-2016, 12:10 PM.

Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
Hi
I have ridden the cbr 250 non abs for about 500 kms and i simply loved the machine.
Smooth ride, sweet sound the paint finish etc.
The only reason i didn't get it was BecausE its been in the market for really long time and may be upgraded anytine soon + i really want a twin cylinder to be my next upgrade.
I test rode the Mojo and got almost the same feeling as far as the smoothness of the engine is concerned. But its a naked and had the db killers removed so there was the loud surround sound ( i can't say i liked it).
It was doing 100kph in 4rth gear @ 6000 rpm aprox.
I have heard the RS 200 is pretty smooth to ride too. Although you mentioned your history with bajaj but still you must take testrides for all of these and also CS400 is to be launched this year as per the experts.
So if you can wait a few more months... ?!
Cheers. You Start Your Life with a Full Pot of Luck and an Empty Pot of Experience, the Object is to Fill the Pot of Experience Before you Empty the Pot of Luck.....!!

CBR250 is a total softie-great bike but a softie nevertheless-a pucca HONDA-bit characterless-infact,that's it USP.
KTM390 is an engrossing bike to ride, maintain and own-you'll never have a dull moment with the orange under you. With proper maintenance, you can definitely keep the bike for 5-6 years.Dad's Bajaj Super-1983-1989

Dear itsmridul
Whichever bike you buy has to be a bike that excites you to your core and makes you happy without leaving any doubts. If CBR250R does that to you then you should buy that bike!
This bike has been in the market for quite sometime, but nevertheless still amaze its owners and new buyers who get their hands on it. Not to forget it is still the choice of many as a trustworthy and comfortable Touring machine. My cousin has one for close to 3 years now and wont trade it for any other bike (in its segment of course) and has churned quite a few long rides on it too without any troubles.
If you are waiting for an upgrade then you may end up waiting for a long time because while you wait for an upgrade, some other company pulls out some other model and we start thinking about it/comparing this model with the bike of our choice (whichever it may be) and this only increases dilemma. I have been through this phase too, and for almost 2 years. And mostly these upgrades (in case of Honda) come in form of addition of new models, and not actual upgrade to the existing ones (as long as they are already selling quite well and have no imminent technical issues)
But If CBR250R came into picture Only Because of lack of options, then I would suggest you to wait for a while see to if any other Bike comes up. Or any of the new ones currently not available at your place, arrive there.

Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
I don't think Honda would upgrade the CBR250, considering that any upgrade will still be slower than the KTM 390 series. However they did say they might consider localising the 650f if there is enough demand.
Basically, u can wait for a few months and see your options, by which time someone will advise to wait for a few more months, for more new launches.
Or, if you want a premium commuter, and highway machine, with minimal fuss, go for the CBR 250. After 25000 kms, I'm realising the value of this all rounder. People who go for Honda would rather be riding than fixing. And boring is a relative term. No day on Indian roads will ever be unexciting.

Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
CBR 250 is undoubtedly a nice bike, forget pillion comfort in Duke otherwise its nice good looking and powerfull bike.Originally posted by itsmridul View PostHello Xbhpians,
This question may have been asked many a times, but still I have no option but asking it again.
I am from a district town in West Bengal, riding a Bajaj Pulsar 150 UG3 for more than 8 years. There have been little to no complaints regarding my bike. Perhaps little credit could be attributed to my riding style too. However nowadays I am feeling like upgrading it.
I have been looking for a suitable upgrade since 10-12 months, almost zeroed on CBR 250R. But a few mishaps in my family restricted my purchase. So my searching for my next ride resumed from where it was stalled.
I am 5'8" average build. Riding experience of about 90K kms.
I am looking for a bike capable of cruising around 100 kms with decent pillion comfort and smooth engine. My usage would be in city 50% highway 50% approx, also for occasional touring. Budget around 3 lakhs, could be extended a little further. Also am looking to keep this bike for at least 5-6 years if not more.
After going through the ownership experience threads of Yamaha R3 I almost selected it but the dealer said it's not available here. [emoji19]
So the choice again left at CBR 250R. But considering its falling sales and age would it be good decision to invest in one? Or should I go for a 2016 Duke 390?
Benelli and Mojo are out of option as these are not available in my city and I cannot go to Kolkata for each and every service related issues, if any.
Thanks in advance.
I would say before make a decision have a test ride of ninja

Ninja would be a brilliant choice, but budget is 3L, and ninja is a significant amount more (4.3L in Bangalore)Originally posted by Neerajvayu View PostCBR 250 is undoubtedly a nice bike, forget pillion comfort in Duke otherwise its nice good looking and powerfull bike.

Budget can be stretched a little but the ninja is way above the limit. Also the maintenance cost!!!

Go for the D390 in budget+low maintenance cost+value for money+every time you crack open the trottle you will have a smile on your face, for seat problem you can change the seats or get gel seatsNo replacement for an engine Displacement

Re: Would buying CBR 250R be a good decision now?
Hello everyone,
Here most of members recommended CBR 250. Mentioned lots of plus points like good build, smooth engine, fun riding etc. but me and my friend have totally opposite opinion about CBR.
Me and my friend using CBR150 and CBR250 respectively . We both facing lots of problem with our bikes.
Here are some points we observed after using CBR :-
1. Bike fairing vibrations and sound . (Increasing after day by day use and unable to fix it.)
2. Bike suddenly shut down and never start up. (Facing this problem from 1st day but till now no specific reason and solution found.)
3. Pathetic service center. (Treat CBR like shine/stunner. last time installed shines brake pads in my CBR
)
4. Costly spare parts (It affects total maintenance cost ).
5. Some parts used in bike are low quality (My bike fell in parking and Handle bar bent.)
