            • I being a subscriber, recently read the orange KTM special issue of Xbhp, Aug-Sept.

              Good points:

              1. Too many to mention, good photography, good cover, great articles, etc.

              Bad points:

              1. No CD's anymore, no posters, Where are they gone?

              2. Each person has his own personal review. This gives somewhat multiple impressions despite similarities. Secondly, similarities are repeated in everyone's review.
I personally wish to read one big review that the 4-5 Xbhp staff people make together as a Team!

              3. Still no figures. Guys, your amazing photography and "been there, done that" descriptions are all fine and good.
But nothing can replace proper data about 0-60 kmph, 0-100 kmph and braking (100-0 kmph), etc. which are almost inevitable in comparisons between performance bikes.

Please get some VBox hardware and maintain a proper database of your figures in the magazine.
I know we get a lot of figures from other magazines... But personally, I subscribed to Xbhp and read only Xbhp NOW...

              SUGGESTION(S):

              1. Wherever you mention a place in a diagram or photograph, where you have been, you could Micro bookmark in a corner the GPS ID of that place, so if people visit that place, they can track it.
For example, in one corner of a picture taken in Ajmer, you could mention in a small font, in a corner of the picture "26* 54' 78'' 001 North - 74* 86' 24'' 012 East" so that people can track it when they visit the place.
Do it in a very small font only, almost micro level, so it doesn't disturb anything and the keen traveller maybe benefitted from the data.

It's an amazing magazine within its first year, and I'm happy to have subscribed to it. If the above shortcomings could be addressed, TAKING INPUTS from other Xbhpians as well, that would be great! Thanks Xbhp.

Samarth - what is the point of figures?

Are we talking about supercars like the Lamborghini Aventador being tested exclusively by Xbhp? We are either talking about bikes that are already in the market, regardless of whether they are superbikes or desi commuters or anything in between. Figures are meaningless unless you have the exact same bike, conditions, rider etc.

This is something I like about Xbhp that it doesn't devote space to irrelevant information. What matters are the sensations YOU get when YOU ride a bike. In the articles the writers can try and convey that using words that closely vibe with their emotional response to the performance of the machine.

Figures are as meaningful to real-world performance as high-heels are to a mermaid...

I'm not saying to remove the text reviews. They rock. But, it would hardly take half a page to convey the figures, and having is better than not having, right?

Some magazine told me that N650 can do a 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and 0-100 in 4.7 seconds. YES, This is a kind of "numeric sensation" that is being conveyed by the journalist to me.
Frankly, I might do it in 5.2 seconds instead of 4.8, so what? Atleast I got an idea before investing my 5 Lacs, right?

Words can't convey everything clearly. For example take a sentence-

"The bike was hellishly accelerating all over the open roads, overtaking bigger vehicles in a real sense of urgency, while the rider barely manages to keep up in terms of his reflex".
I could easily use the above sentence for The V-Max, The Hayabusa, the S1000RR or the R6, while these are all ENTIRELY different machines belonging to different segments.

And to answer your question- the point of figures is to give a general idea of what to expect in performance, not for an Aventador (because I wouldn't buy it so what's the point?) but for things you are going to buy (like N650R)...
Everyone from MotorcycleUSA to Bike UK gives figures, must be a reason for it.

                        • just skimmed thru the latest issue...

you guys need to have your images colour-corrected.
the photographs just don't seem to "pop"

P.S: a few pages that had a LOT of Jack n Jones logos.
                          had a logo + the bike had a few + J&J tees.
a bit too much i'd say.

these are exactly few of many reasons, we dont do such usual "stats". Every mag has its own way of conducting and documenting road/track test, which is "100% authenthic" according to their set standards. In the end, you get a broad range (as you got for N650R) of final specification. Do you want another number from xBhp for even a greater confusion?

a bike is either good, bad or in the middle of these two. rest is all expression

                            • The choice of text colours affect me quite a bit. I find it tougher to read articles on this mag than most of the others out there. May be it is the choice of white on a dark background or a seemingly choice of colours that just don't render the text well.

The extreme graphical focus gives the mag a rather unique look, but I reckon similar attention to typography and font colours will enhance the reading experience

                              • Samarth - we have plenty of magazines that cover the performance figures of various motorcycles. We have websites and forums that cover performance figures of various motorcycles. We have youtube videos and reviews covering the performance figures of various motorcycles.

                                Lets not get redundant...

I'd rather see this magazine treading a unique path and focusing on the ride and the rider rather than the machine.
