No problem. I can initiate one. Probably not very long ride though. We could ride till Vellore(West side) or Mahabs(South side).

In my opinion, most of us had done long rides, it is just for the newbies into touring. However, would not discount the fact it is AOK. We will need to have a ride still.

Vellore would be stretching it a bit too far for me. I am okay with Mahabs. Probably next week. Just my opinion though.

From what Ananth/Steve discussed earlier, it not very expensive when it comes to food or stay over there. The math they gave to our imagination that maximum it would be around 1.5k (food and stay) apart from fuel and cash reserve.

Rough estimate

Distance - 800 kms round trip (approx)
Petrol Rs. 1200-1800 (Depends on bike)
Food/Stay and misc - Rs. 1000 (max)
Cash reserve - Rs. 500.

Ananth/Steve correct if I'm wrong on the quote.

@All : Is anyone else waiting to confirm their participation?

I thought it was already posted before.

Total Kilometers : Max 800 (~775 - 800) - 1000 Rs. maximum

Stay: Max 200 Per head (400 Rs for 2 days)

Food: 100 Per head max per day, 300 for 3 days.

If we do boating in Pichavaram - 50 per head

If we do boating into the sea at Point Calimere - 100 per head

Visit to the Sanctuary in Point Calimere - 50 Per head.

In all, total would be around: 2000 Rs

Carry emergency Cash: 500 Rs per head seperately.

Thanks Sriram. Ill come up with a detailed post on all the necessary details for the trip & update the same this week on the thread.

The problem is i have to come all the way to chennai which is approximately 50Kms from my house to meet up with our folks and travel to Vellore which is approximately 145 odd KMs from Chennai. So 290 + 100(Alone) would be a bit hard on me.

on the other hand for Mahabalipuram, I could meet them up in Kelambakkam junction and proceed forward which would be ~ly 120 odd kms for me.

First, where are you located? It's misleading if your profile still depicts Chennai as location.

Second, Vellore is going be a bit hard on you? Point Calimere ride is 800 kms round trip. Think !

Hey Makky, Nice to see you on this Point Calimere thread and your willingness to participate. Ananth is running the whole show for this ride.

He would need the count soon so that he can do some background work for this ride. Confirm at the earliest please!

@ Ananth: For the benefit of the group if you could spell out the late date for acknowledging as a confirmed participants would help.

If you feel riding 400 Kilometers on the same day would be tough, The same applies to Chennai - Point Calimere ride which will roughly be 400 Kilometers.

Again, Its not mandatory that you join in for this, Unless you feel comfortable riding for long - You can always wait & join us for shorter rides. Riding 400 Kilometers is no big thing, but the comfort level is what matters.

I'm giving in 10 extra days for people to think & update. Last date for confirmations would be : 14-October-2010

I would be calling in the WildLife warden, Point Calimere on 15th October to make the reservations.

To sum up, In the next three weeks, I want all the participants to :

1. Service their Motorcycles & see to that the Bike is in top mechanical condition.

2. Save up your hard earned money

3. Take Photo copies of the registration documents & Driving Licence.

4. Apply / Confirm your holiday with regard to your college / home / Office well in advance.
