The leak on the valve tappet cover seems to be a common problem on the new 220. I think the part number for the old tappet cover is DJ101217. Try spares stores, there are two at Panavila: Classic Bajaj, and another mixed dealer near it. Then there is Deedi Bajaj on the way to Mr. Joseph's. Let me know if you find other spares dealers.

Emission is not based on the exhaust. It depends on the engine performance. So it wont affect emission norms. This was verified by Tintu.Originally posted by deville_56 View Post@lijo Would it pass emission test???
Maybe... but I like it black...Originally posted by Binoy View Post@Lijo seriously telling the original chrome was the best bet...
Anyways good DIY...

Yes... its same for R15... only the retention brackets are different.Originally posted by a.jayamohan View PostYou mean sound test?
. Lijo is this the same FFE for R15? looking just like that.

Well, there is something of that sort in stock exhausts. My point is that the real polluting agents are from the engine. As long as your engine is healthy, there should not be much difference in emission values when swapping exhausts.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostNo catalytic converter in bikes???

Tintu had said that after he changed his exhaust and cylinder kit, at the next pollution check the value was lower than earlier.

Our Indian bikes do not have a cat-con in the exhaust. I think RTR 180 has an air reservoir in the exhaust to allow burning of some unburnt hydrocarbons. Changing the exhaust will not make much difference in the CO or HC values (this is what is checked for 4-S M-cycles).
Our CO and HC values depend on carb. tuning. Infact this new muffler may give cleaner HC values because of lesser deposits now, and lesser area for future deposits. But then again, the lower back-pressure now, may give the charge lesser time for complete combustion, increasing CO values, and the lack of the air reservoir may increase HC values. In my opinion these two effects will cancel each other out. Any engineers among us care to elaborate?
@lijok: I think you will have to re-tune your carb after installing this.Last edited by Ayson; 03-17-2011, 06:29 PM.

Nice explanation bro.. maybe thats why his emission value went down...Originally posted by Ayson View PostOur Indian bikes do not have a cat-con in the exhaust.
