Oh man I would have loved to come(this time on my bike). Will still see if I can make it. I'm at Chandigarh right now, will be driving home tomorrow morning. If I can make it by 8AM, I might make it to the dhaba as well. Let's see..

Call for help!
@The Monk @Mik. And all the members of the Delhi Chapter.

The Triumph pricing details are out(not yet on the India website, strange...) but NOT the exact booking, payment and delivery ones. I think that a visit to the Gurgaon dealership is needed to get to the brass tacks. Could any one of you or for that matter any member in/around Gurgaon undertake this task for me and the other Bonneville fans?

I would need to withdraw the amount from my fauji provident fund and that is a lengthy process. If I can get a fair idea of the booking details - booking amount, RTO, insurance, OTR and delivery - I can proceed with the withdrawal in a methodical manner.

Another spanner in the works is that I will be posted out of Rajkot within the next month. So, I have to dovetail the booking and delivery with my move to the new (and as of yet, unknown) location AND if the location is in a field area, then have a buffer of leave days to ride the bike to Pune, keep it with my wife and get back on duty. I will be able to plan this crazy schedule ONLY if I get confirmed dates, for example, " Bonneville bookings will open on 8th Dec 2003, the booking amount will be Rs 1L, delivery would be 45 days after booking, balance amount to be paid at time of delivery thru bank draft/electronic transfer to xxxx account of yyyy bank"

Please PM me and/or call at (^@$#$((^$. Please help guys, all my Army friends in Delhi have been posted out and cannot render any boots on the ground kind of assistance.

An aide memoire of questions for the dealer:

1.Exact OTR Delhi price with breakdown into ESR, RTO, Insurance "sundry" etc.

2. Exact date on which bookings will open AND close.

3. Exact booking amount and payment mode. Payment mode for balance amount and mode

4. Projected date/period of delivery

Thanks in advance.

Mik. Bloody hell. So you had to ride all the way to Gurgaon for nothing? This is supposed to the HO of Triumph in India. Maybe it is closed as today is a Sunday? Jeez, sorry man, didn't know of this issue. Any chance of anybody you know close by to just hop across on Monday morn at say 1100h and take a peek and if it still not open, then a leak on the doorstep a la 3 Idiots!!!

The whole country is raving about the launch and these guys behave like a small town baniya in their working hours.... Great way to start. Huge margins on the prices and then a closed shop on Sundays. Tch, tch.

Thanks a mill for trying, Mik. Stand you a drink when we meet.

Hi Icemang

There is no Gurgaon/ Delhi Dealership. HQ is here. Dealership will come in Jan 2014.

First dealerships in Bangalore and Hyderabad. You will have to check it out in one of those two cities.

Sunilg who attended the launch, wrote this in the Triumph Launch News Thread -

Triumph will have 9 dealerships across India by the end of this fiscal year. This will be achieved in 2 phases. The first phase will see dealerships opening in Bangalore and Hyderabad in December. Triumph Delhi and Mumbai dealerships will be opening by January 2014.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I thought I would light up my Sunday morning by lusting over some overpriced british beauties Had to do with a chit chat with the underpaid complex guard of the building. Nope! he hasn't yet seen any of the big bikes in the vicinity. Funny! even the Ducati guys were more receptive and active when they launched a showroom in Gurgaon.

Hope you get posted to some place ride-able. A college mate in Signals is getting posted out in a few months and I am desperately hoping he lands up in Arunachal so that I can go ahead and have a good ride and a drink (Peter Scot?) there

Mik. Hey man, you are most welcome to Scotch Peter (pun intended) wherever I am posted. Will info you when it comes thru. And yes, Brit babes were always over-priced. Their peaches and cream complexion merits the extra $$$, I suppose.

Some issues about this Triumph story have left me really baffled. What exactly are they up to here in India. They had an episode of the butterflies in the stomach a year ago. The official launch video was a piece of faeces - the MC was apt for a college reunion or worse, Vimal Sumbly said (I think) and quote "I THINK we are going to launch the Triumph blah blah" unquote, the "AV" was worse than MY worst efforts at AV, the ramp models wearing official Triumph clothing accessories were Z grade... the list goes on. No prices mentioned on the India-spec website. No firm news about dealer openings, bookings... nothing. I think Mr John Bloor needs somebody to grab him by the short and curlies, put a cattle prod you know where and tell him exactly where he gets off. The icing on the cake was the idiotic OTR ex Delhi pricing, GBP rates in INR.

Is it that a) the white man has lost his mojo in business or b) the "native" has now reclaimed HIS mojo? When will these ultra-hyper-uber morons realise that the India of the 21st century is NOT the India of the 1900s. Nobody f'ing patronises us, or humours us or treats us like thirsty camels within sight of an oasis. If they do, they will feature on the History Channel in 2020. Shucks, where the hell has professionalism gone these days... and now, we will have HD teaching the Brits about how to do business in a place the latter left less than a century ago. Perhaps, the colonial hubris still hangs on at Triumph while the chilled out, super-practical and businesslike Yanks have their eyes wide open.

• Wonderful G2G

Came to dhabha on my bike after a long time, although I was skeptical that my bike can make it or not!
Took @rreneav1987 with me as this was his first g2g. Reached quite early than scheduled.
Met all of the xbhpians and friends, and few after a long long gap.
It was nice to see dnewguy and sudhanshu coming forward and attending g2gs. Appreciate r-series that he drove from Chandigarh early morning just to attend this g2g.
It was fun and well spent Sunday after years.

The Monk, Himanshu, Ashish, Mohit, thanks for this get together. Actually felt like good old days.
Hope to see more g2gs like this
