As the saying goes.. there's many a slip between the cup and the lip. Ideally, I should have been in Ajmer by now. But Something didn't feel right since the very beginning ever since I boarded the bus yesterday (I was in Nasik yesterday also).. It was like the universe telling me not to do it in many many ways. I sat down near a narrow bridge 30km from the left which would have taken me to Ratlam and thought about it for over an hour! Things just weren't adding up, I had to turn around. On the way back, I realized both me and the bike were not truly ready for this. It happened sorta hurriedly.. my unplanned rides kinda work out most times.. this time it didn't, just my luck. No worries.. I will try again
Somehow, the universe convinced me not to proceed. This was by far my longest Pune-Nasik ride. Almost 800km
P.S.: This post nailed it for me. As soon as I read it, I was confirmed.
I just wasn't enjoying my ride...Originally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostGood Luck Bro. Stay safe and enjoy as much as you can.
Edit: BTW, We (my bike and I) will be going to SVC tomorrow. Since this 'Dress Rehearsal' revealed something that wouldn't have come up had the ride been any shorter than 500-600km, so there is a positive side to the 2 tanks of petrol used up

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Take care.Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."
I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

Okay .. now another question that I have in here for everyone with any suggestions ...
How good are Scorpion, Bell or Icon helmets .. anyone have them or can share any experiences ...
I know AGVs n Shoies are great but they cost great too ...
Ve seen Only rich people afford them ...
Also ... anything that one can get from in here considering attending CSS next yr .. as far as riding gear or bike accessories goes.
Are riding suits compulsary or we could do with a better leather jackets ? How does the weather wear at that time in chennai?
I would be getting touring shoes and a helmet is also on the cards .. but any thing keeping CSS in mind would be great if I could manage to get.
I dont want to buy anything that mods the factory settings of the bike as I dont feel very confident in doing so, so please refrain from suggesting any race kits or likes.
cheerz ...
ride safe and wear helmets !!!
Have put in a thread in Help Me section as well on the helmets .. if relevant, please reply there as well.

I know its pretty early in the morning, but I really hope someone is online to reply to this.
Couple of us are planning an impromptu ride to Hyderabad. I need an update on the road condition, and approximate speeds we can maintain etc.
Our bikes are in shape for the ride (they always are
), and so are we. I just need some more clarity on what to expect on the road.
We will be leaving pretty soon, so I hope someone looks at this before that.
Thanks a ton!

These things happen. More often than not, it is the fear of the unknown. The apprehension that despite all preparations, Murphy will strike. Perhaps, you did not prepare adequately enough to banish these subconscious fears.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostAs the saying goes.. there's many a slip between the cup and the lip. Wise decision in turning back - never reinforce a failure. You have next year. And yes, try not to go in the rains. Battling the deep slush and torrential streams loses its charm after the first few one and then it becomes a punishment. I would recommend Sep as the ideal time.Yes, I myself went in June so learned from that.
All the best for the Leh venture.Any queries, just PM or email, ok?

Good to hear from you again. I am still writing the travelogue.
Pune to Hyd is ok; I had been on this road in Diwali 2009. There are a few unmade/ dug-up patches short of Solapur but on an average, the road is not all that bad at all. If it has improved in the past 3 years, then you can make it to Hyd in a day. But if not, then I recommend staying overnight in Solapur which is almost exactly midway.
You will be starting now so will be in Hyd at nightfall.Last edited by icemang; 07-20-2012, 05:42 PM.

I strongly believe that if you do not feel right about any ride, stop and turn back. Nothing wrong. Some days you feel like being on top of world and some days you don't feel like riding even at 100kmph. I believe that you should believe what your intuition is telling you.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostBut Something didn't feel right since the very beginning ever since I boarded the bus yesterday (I was in Nasik yesterday also).. Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Wise decision to turn back, if your mentally not prepared. If its not your day then its not, as there is a new day for everyone of us.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostAs the saying goes.. there's many a slip between the cup and the lip.
