I do agree that informing everyone or sms-ing all the members of Pune chapter is not feasible.

But I guess a simple post saying "Cancelled" could have been posted.

That said, yesterdays situation was unique, and I dont think it should repeat itself in the near future.

I myself didnt turn up - obviously because I did not want to get caught in the chaos that might have ensued after the blasts.
(Again, I am assuming that there was chaos.)

Hmmm, Yes, next time onwards it would be posted here as well but I dont think anyone checks the thread because I get calls from members asking half an hour early where is the g2g.

There was no chaos. In fact, I was at roopali, FC road from 6.30 pm onwards. Even when first guy called me up to tell about bomb blasts, I laughed and did not believe him because everything was absolutely normal. Only after 2-3 other guys called in succession, did I found out that it was not a hoax.

Also I seriously doubt that guys check Pune thread at the last moment to check whether the G2G is still on.

@ vishwas - i agree what you told but if the posting and all is not required saying its cancelled, atleast the G2G organiser should answer the phone or call back, or atleast put an sms saying its cancelled.

I was at work in a meeting when you called, after the news our office was in emergency evacuation process, i was left home 2 hours before my shift ended.

SMS is blocked for my ID, i have sent report to google but no reply yet.

Yes, next time over ill update it over the thread only, no fb or sms because its not accessible. Please be advised it will only be updated on the thread and not anywhere else. Also there is no list of members who are attending/bunking the g2g so getting hold of all is impossible even if sms is sent because some have DND activated and it takes more than an hour to reach the phone.

Yeah there was chaos, continuous checking at Baner exit, Chandni Chowk Exit and after Warje. Was pulled over three times. I regretted taking the highway and to have hydration pack which they thought something else.

@ eshan - i agree that you should have posted on thread and all and in fact there is a high possibilty that it also would have skipped, but when someone calls you atleast acknowledge bro, and i agree you cant send sms from google, but you can send from your own phone right.

If you dont have that much balance too you can always give a miss call to the person who called you so they can call you back.

Yes saaaar noted. Balance tha but was busy at work and then the evacuation and riding back home in that tension, along with police checking thrice.

EDIT - Iam postponing the Dhaba g2g of this week to mid or end August. I think there would be checking and hassles of getting a place since we do not have conformation in regards to attendance.

If you wish, you take up this responsibility and communicate with everyone every week in the fashion you like. Then we will be free to criticize how you did / did not behave.

I am not picking on him but posting whats wrong on his part and he has already accepted so its over now.

+1. Don't understand what the fuss is all about. One can wish for a lot of things but can only get what is feasible.

Reminds me of a quote that my friend used last time there was a blast in Mumbai - "Being on high alert after a bomb blast is like putting on a condom after the pregnancy tests are true."

That said - 1.2 billion souls is a difficult number to track in order to avoid untoward incidents.

Had a successful Leh trip. Everyone reached home safe and sound. Thanks to Aniruddha (Viper1089), Sanj350 (Sanjay Wadhwani) and Mrs. Wadhwani for being such a great company. Also thanks to all the people who helped us in planning and executing the trip successfully.
