I vote for the same. But Lavasa is damn risky for newbies. On serious note where dafaq are you ?Originally posted by shashrash View Posthey .. dont cancel the ride .. you already go there every weekend ... and the senior that you are pointing to, even if they dont start with you, you might find there there it self as well, if they are regular ... so I dont think its wise to cancel rides on this basis ... because if this becomes the criteria ... no ride will happen because I dont remember any ride where I even get to start up with them at all... so its always a better chance that you will meet them up there in the hills ... my idea.. Go Ahead with the plan... unless you have something specifically planned for the pros to share.
n do share sme groovy pics too
cheerz ..
ride safe and wear helmets ...!

No registration is required initially. When you arrive at the plateau, you have to pay a fee of Rs. 10 per person, Rs. 50 for a normal camera and Rs. 100 for a professional camera.Originally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostDid you register before going to Kaas? i think that you need to register or else there is no entry from Kaas to Bamnoli Route where the flowers are. Please let me know then I can go ahead and a schedule a ride.
When we visited last week, the bloom was in progress and by now, I'm sure it must be more beautiful. Please note that we started from Pune at 5:00 AM and reached Kaas at 9:00 AM. Time was lost in breakfast (approx. 45 minutes), a lost member (approx. 30 minutes) and some slow patches from Satara onwards.
Early morning on weekends is the best time to start from Pune as you beat the countless Mumbai-kars and Pune-kars traveling to Mahableshwar. Add to it, the container traffic starts at 6:00 AM. If you reach Kambatki before them, you can enjoy some cornering as well. Upto Wai junction the road is fairly decent and you can rip with slight caution. After the Wai junction, the road becomes a ripper's paradise and you can rip all the way to glory till the second toll booth. A place called Hotel Ruchiserves piping hot Misal Pav and good Omelet Sandwiches. Take some water and biscuits with you.
If you start early, you can start back early too. The right time to start back is around 1-2 PM from Kaas as you arrive at the NH4 and beat the countless cars and SUVs returning from Mahableshwar. That way, you can rip on the way back too.
Just for record, we had two Dukes, two 220s, one 200NS and one FZ. Although not on any top speed setting trip, the following top speeds were recorded.
Duke (NV) - 138 KM/HR - maintained that for a good minute or so.
Duke (Inder) - 110 KM/HR
P220 Fi - 136 KM/HR
P220 Carb - 140 KM/HR
P200 NS - 142 KM/HR
FZ - 129 KM/HR
It was fun to see the 200 NS outrun almost everything but the Duke scores highly on the acceleration and is difficult to keep in sight on ghat sections and especially after toll plazas.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

@NV thanks for the info.
@All - A Kaas Ride coming up.
Half group goes this sunday, and the other half next Saturday & sunday. The reason I'm keeping it this way is because at Kaas it is impossible to handle a group of 10+ bikers at one time, especially when clicking pictures at the field. Police and other guards are there, even parking problems are faced and we had got very less time to click pictures or even stand on Bamnoli route.
Now, I would like to keep it as -
Group 1 - Sunday - 23-9-2012
Group 2 - Saturday - 29-9-2012
Group 3 - Sunday - 30-9-2012
Please put the preference in the respective groups. Max 10 Riders in every group. @ Newbies - we have been to Kaas last time and we precisely know how bad it was especially with the number of bikers present. Also i'll pick out the Tail and Lead of respective groups after knowing who all have participated in the respective group. As you all know page one rules regarding safety gears and documents stands valid.
Its time for you guys to head out.sigpic

The parking bit is true and you may need to park a few meters away from the check post at the plateau. However, you can still manage it as a large group if you have some time between split groups visiting the plateau and moving on to the lake.

Nice pics there NV.
Thats a good suggestion but it actually becomes a tedious affair especially when others who do not wish to click pics and just enjoy the moment. The best thing is that it will be wrapped by next Sunday, by checking your pics I guess there is a lot of time left for them to bloom, it needs to be sunny there, I havent been recently there so just asking by my past experience was it sunny there or raining at the time of leaving?
@All for group one I would be checking this thread tomorrow eve again for assigning the tail and lead if a senior is not present. Please check the thread by tomorrow night by 9pm max to know accurate details.sigpic

Hey nice pics
seems it was raining all the way, roads are wet ...
True, seems like their is still some time for blooming, when I went their last year I was a bit late, do not want to miss that "carpet" feel wala bloom this time around. Also weather has to be sunny... otherwise can't take cameras outOriginally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostNice pics there NV.
