Time for meet can be kept 8 pm onwards.

We can also shift it up to today i.e. (6th April 2009).

Samuel, it is obvious that people would be more worried about the bike since everyone knows that tenhut had hit his head when he was a kid and so his condition can't get worse.

In fact, on hearing of crash, both my kids (Age - 14 & 10) asked about the Bike and not about tenhut's condition. It seems they have also understood what is what.

Hey I am desperate for Leh ride but taking a 21 day off is extremely difficult. For an employed person, it is much easier than a self employed person. (Before a ton of protest posts, please understand that getting leave sanctioned is the only hurdle. For us, we have to arrange for smooth operations of complete business.) Also that period is fag end of our season. Normally all events/promotions taper down during monsoons.

Secondly, lot of people have advised me not to take ninja to Leh so first searching for alternate bike. Let me get back to you in 3-4 days.

Also note that devenpd is also keen for Leh ride.

@Vishwas, don't worry about the schedule of Leh trip. Try for 3 weeks leave and if not settle for 2 weeks leave. I am sure there is more than you in the group who cannot afford 3 weeks.

There's won't be any huge problem with the Ninja on that terrain except for the ground clearance of 135mm. This again won't be a big hinderance (unless you plan to do Marsimek La) if you drive carefully. Worst case, you will replace the under body cowl after the trip.

The hinderance can be from the tyres. Though I canot comment on it as I didn't ride the Ninja yet and specially on rocks & gravel, the tyres' design pattern has more cuts to aid better grip than the R15's tyres. Worst case you'll temporarily change the rear tyre. Else the Ninja 205R can probably do the ride better than most other bikes.

If you have seen the Ninja's underbody carefully, the lowest point of the GC is the mono suspension link. Damage to that could mean replacing the entire rear suspension&I'm sure that would cost a bomb!

So which bike are you taking KP? I would suggest the Victor, if it is in good condition.

Vishwas, .. I too would advice against the Ninja.. not that it can't do, but it just won't be enjoyable on such a bike. The tires are not friendly.. there are barely any places where you will ever open up the throttle. A lot of it will be riding in low-medium revs in lower gears.. and some of the sections will be gravel and slush.. with a possibility of water crossings.. sometimes even a foot deep in some areas..

You can take the ninja,.. but it absolutely isn't Ninja terrain. So, unless you are ok with enduring such frustration and/or baring expenses after the trip, don't take the Ninja..

You could instead rent a pulsar, bullet, karizma etc from Delhi.. they do the job just fine and wont be as frustrating if things went wrong..
