Can we please take this offline? (as i am posting all this off my phone and so cant be very good with words due to keyboard constraints leading to all the confusion.)Originally posted by TenHut View PostRiding/driving on different sides of the road has nothing to do with motorcyling and the fact that the throttle hand should never be on anything but on THROTTLE !
Germans and Americans, what ? Even the british will teach you the same and they are right hand driven ! Australians or any other Commonwealth country will tell you not to use your throttle hand for anything else. They too are right hand driven like you and I in India !
I aint drilling this fact into your head so dont get aggressive. If you feel comfortable doing it do it...it will help you become that much safer. If you think India and all the indians in it are an exception to the universally accepted rules then so be it.
And take it in the right stride mate. I wasnt belittling anyone when i said Pulsar will requiere both brakes to brake effectively. A 10 lakhs Harley or any bike with less front weighCt bias will also have the same sort of braking. I was categroizing the 220 in that class and not in commuter class. Jeez talk about being sensitive !
Why dont you put some more words into my mouth..who said Ninja shouldnt tour ? ! I too initially had bought my bike for touring but ended up liking sports riding. I was contemplating buying a Bullet prior to buying the Ninja. So you are telling me that ppl do with Ninja what I essentially did myself. I toured from Pune to Chennai 3 months into buying the bike.
I too landed up with a screwed patch on NH17 Chitradurga (?)onwards.
So its clear to me that you cannot avoid bad pacthes. But to set out for them thinking the bike will take it is the only school of thought I am contesting. The Ninja doesnt take abuse well because its not meant for it. As Bluevolt appropriately put, even riding it on urban roads in rains in our country doesnt go down well with the bike. And I contested that because you posted a pic of Ninja doing it and were on the lines " he did it...you can too" to DesertFox.
I dont know if RTO teaches you to take your right hand off the bar if you feel like ! Heck isnt it the same RTO that believes in the Saree Gaurd and the front number plate to be safe on the bike ?
I agree that one should never take the hand off the throttle no matter what. I also started using the hand signals shown in the video you posted at the SIE ride as they were extremely useful and logically and functionally correct. But what i mentioned about hand signals IS what is mentioned at RTO.
Also, Me calling a P220 a commuter is what I think of my own bike. It was always meant to be a commuter by BAL, albeit a faster commuter than the likes of a splendor. It has nothing to do with what you/anybody else has to say about it. That I use it for purposes besides commuting is my personal preference/risk. The only Indian made bike I will not call a commuter is the R15. That people use it to commute is their personal preference. I was seriously not being sensetive here I have my reasons for my classification.
The picture I posted was an extreme we reached on our ride and there was a better alternate route we collectively preferred not to take.
The NH4 is the Mumbai-Chennai highway which passes through Pune and Chitradurg.
I have not owned any big(er) bike as yet so I refrain from contesting your aforementioned school of thought any more.
P.S.: Why do you always feel I am getting aggressive whenever I address you directly in my posts? I am the noob here and have so much to learn from the experienced guys.
I am just back from pune station. Roads are very much dry.Last edited by antz.bin; 10-06-2010, 02:54 AM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

How far is it? What are the roads like? Post some details about it.. I want to tag along in case office work doesn't come calling..
I'm using Petronas 10W40, and I think the xxW50 version was also available in the shop that I got it from. Petronas is sooo smooth. You can give it a shot.
+1 I have used almost all makes of oils from the synthetic to the manufacturer recomended oil, but I found petronas and shell the best ones. motol is overhyped and is actually worse than petronas.
actually petronas semi-synthetic ones are the best.
@RockerZ: Which one is C3 and where the heck are the corner labelings available for common folks to view?
the corners are designated and in the sequence in which they occur from the gates of lavasa so c 3 is the 3rd major corner fronm the gates.

It's 120+ km from Pune. It's after crossing the Satara city n taking a right before the tunnel. The 100 km road is all NH4 so it's ought to be goodOriginally posted by s_and_m View Post

After that 20-30 km road is single lane but good. I've been there in month of Aug but there were no flowers back then. Hope I'll find some pink n yellow color in the valley this time.
