Any bike can do leh provided it holds on the extreme conditions met out there.
The reason higher capacity bikes are suggested is due to to high amount of torque required to come out of tricky situations & less strain on the engine in the hilly terrains.
If some 1 is comfortable riding a Platina for long rides then he can easily do the Leh trip without any difficulty.
Platina is a very reliable bike on the long.
Bajaj Bikes may be bad in the NVH levels but are pretty reliable.
In the Leh trip we need both reliability & torque.
We don't require top speeds!!!
So Moeed can do it easily with his Platina.

But what about the Hyderabad to Delhi? he(and few others) are keen on doing it on the bike not in the train!!! Either he has to slow down the rest of the folks or moeed gets fewer breaks

Important and the biggest question is, can the Platina sustain the huge luggage that needs for the trip? The luggage will ceartainly affect the handling of the bike very badly on hills.

If people can carry 4-5 rice boris on XL Super&gas cylinders on Chetaks, I guess the Platina can take the luggage required for Leh too!
But Moeed, I don't think you should ride it as hard as you generally do on highways-you can't afford to stress the engine out.

Yeah now I do-the slopes will be an issue as the Platina is very light&most of the luggage will be loaded behind. I guess he might have to consider changing his tyres as well!

Get the vehicle checked once U reach Vishakapatnam.
Get the Airfilter cleaned in the PBK.
Also get the Chain Lubed.
It'll help a lot in the ghats.

Moeed can have a tank bag!!
Tht will reduce some weight in the back.
Its riding as a group.
The fastest rider leads & the slowest becomes the tail.
fastest rider takes longer/more breaks & slowest may take shorter/less breaks.
However the slowest rider sets the overall pace of the group.
Also he can start early as I did initially in the ride to Leh - (Delhi to Chandigarh) as I needed a small service in chandigarh.

well heres my doubt...if you are coming on the platina you cant keep up the speed of the 220s na....we will be doing 600kms a day minimum...

2009 = Marriage Season
Kiran, Riaz, Kriss, Ravi Kiran, Sumit, ... Sarvajit missed it by a small margin, more people who are not very active here got married this year. Chaitanya Krishna (from Raghu's N.Sagar incident), Rajiv Lahiri, and dunno who all. I think Raghu will become an uncle without getting married!

thejus .. talk to guys who've already done the trip and take suggestions.. i remember reading the log of fellow xbhpians from tamil nadu .. they went on a re bullet,p200,karizma and rtr .. was a wonderful log and the pics were simply awesome and breathtaking especially there was this one pic of a huge huge land without even shrubs ..just sandy or rocky terrain for miles at a stretch .. it was a wondeful pic
