Monsoon Ride to Ellora-Lonar !!
Ride to Lonar Crater Lake - The Nature's Miracle, Daulatabad Fort & Ellora Cave

Lonar Crater is the outcome of a violent impact that took place nearly 50,000 years ago when a 60 meters wide space rock travelling at the speed of 90,000 kilometers per hour struck the face of Earth. The impact released a massive energy of multiple mega nuclear bombs, rendering a 1.83kms wide and 150 meters deep dent and forming a mysterious lake inside it with the diameter of 1.2km. Several decades later when lethal atmospheric effect of the impact finally waned, an intriguing ecosystem started developing inside the crater. Today, a forest, nearly 137m deep inside the rim of crater, surrounds the lake. On the world map Lonar Crater is slowing carving its mark, as a third largest crater on earth in the Buldhana District of Maharashtra. This crater is the world's oldest meteorite crater in the world and only meteorite crater in basaltic rock. It may appear unimpressive from a distance but once you catch the view of its curve you will leave only exploring its nook and corner. A beautiful saline lake inside this crater and thick forest's around is a real visual delight. Visit this crater and you will see how the meteorite has affected the surface of earth.

Daulatabad Fort is a magnificent fort situated in Maharashtra, at a distance of around 13 km from the Aurangabad city. It forms a part of the Daulatabad city, which was earlier known as 'Devigiri'. The fort, perched at a height of approximately 60 ft, dates back to the 12th century. It has been constructed on the top of a hill and is amongst the best preserved forts in the world that date back to the medieval times. Daulatabad Fort is also one of the forts in Maharashtra that can be called as impregnable. Devigiri city, now Daulatabad, was founded in 1187 AD, by Bhillamraja of the Yadava dynasty. In the years that ensued, the city passed into the hands of several dynasties of the Deccan. It also became the capital of India, under the rule of Sultan Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq. Infact, he was the one who gave Devigiri, the name of 'Daulatabad', meaning 'City of Fortune'.

The Ellora caves, locally known as ‘Verul Leni’ is located on the Aurangabad-Chalisgaon road at a distance of 30 km north-northwest of Aurangabad, the district headquarters. The name Ellora itself inspires everyone as it represents one of the largest rock-hewn monastic-temple complexes in the entire world. Ellora is also world famous for the largest single monolithic excavation in the world, the great Kailasa (Cave 16). The visit to these caves is enjoyed maximum during monsoon, when every stream is filled with rainwater, and the entire environ is lush green. The monsoon is not only a season of rains in this part, the local visitors are attracted to visit these ideal locations to have a glimpse of the mother nature in full bloom. Founded in the period between 5th century and 10th century AD, these caves were declared as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, a number of years back. They are believed to have been built by the rulers of the Rashtrakuta Dynasty and serve as the epitome of rock-cut architecture in India. The total number of caves at Ellora is 34 and they represent the three different religions of the world - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
