On a more sentimental note, how does one adjust to the transformation of girlfriend to wife? Have never experienced this... Must be quite a nice feeling, to be with one constant companion for so long. You must be completing each other's sentences by now...thinking the other person's thought before she/he does it herself/himself... your marriage, nay, union, must be like the rock of Gibraltar, man.

Re: The Official Mumbai Offline Meet(G2G) Thread
@whymail. Lucky bl00dy scoundrel. 5 years in college, 8 years of courtship. What a life! For me, 3 years at the NDA, 1 year at the IMA, no chance of any lafda-shafda and suddenly pucca arranged marriage at 25 years of age (Father: "Faltu bakwaas ki to marunga g**d pe laat, chup-chaap shaadi kar ley, tery jaisey kadki fauji namooney key liye badi mushkil sey ladki mili" or words to that effect ). And you are moaning about YOUR bachelorhood? Ungrateful rascallas, some people are!Originally posted by whymail View Post

viraj_s85 : thank you - i guess it was a good deal
pavanchirmade : ha ha ha! HiD - nakko re baba! battery ka maa-behen ek... tya peksha bulbs upgrade karto - dokyala shaanti! ani tu mr boromir lightwala ka zhalays
rachitkohli : lol! thanks. i hope so too. sadly it takes more pain to type, than to ride!
icemang : LOL! as they say... aiee chya gaawat ani baara chya bhaawaat! yeah... had told u that i will not be able to wait till the bonny arrives. incidentally, my email to them sent about a month back, was responded to... stating 'triumph will be unveiling all the plans, models & pricing by end of september... we thank u for ur interest... yada yada yada..." so finally the kawanja is here... i've already posted my 1st ride experience in earlier thread... the biggest learning thus far is... 'it takes freaking 2 hrs to clean & lube her up' - thats frigging double as what it takes for my avenger!
as for wifey... jeez... i've know my avenger & even the kawanja better by now... but there is no telling what goes on inside wifey's head... she seems to have developed an uncanny knack of reading my every thought somehow... spooky stuff it is, i tell ya!

@pavanchirmade. I will let you in on a secret. Married men whine about their marriage to bond with their poor bachelor bros so that these singles don't feel bad about the good life they are missing! "Asoon adchan, nasoon kholamba" if I have got that Marathi proverb right.Originally posted by pavanchirmade View PostxBHP needs a new thread under Coffee Lounge: Relationships and Whiners
@neil9381. Thanks, but I am no saheb.
@I_Live2Ride. Then you have obviously not seen the movie "My Fair Lady". I would point you to the scene where Prof Higgins expostulates to Eliza Doolittle about the beauty of the English language. I cn rite dis way 2 but it appears to the eyes the way a piece of grit feels to the teeth - obnoxious. Admittedly, MFL is a satire so has taken it over the top. Good diction does not mandate flowery, wordy sentences in any language ("brevity is the soul of wit") but does stipulate proper grammar, does it not? Wren and Martin, to wit?Originally posted by I_Live2Ride View PostSee I told you yesterday about the NDA life...

And you will be pleasantly surprised about the significant gain in your vocabulary if you employ the dictionary in a tab approach! This is the method I taught my children so as to improve upon their wordstock. But a standard paper dictionary, not the online one.Last edited by icemang; 07-26-2013, 12:30 PM.

Agreed... But,
1. There are N numbers of users on a public forum those who may not have an excellent command over English language and find it a bit difficult to understand the meaning of a sentence.
2. A review or an article is supposed to be read by a mass and they expect it to be written in such a way that every technical aspect is flashed in a layman's language. Hence, writing pages after pages is of no sense until I, you, he, she and we can understand and get something useful out of it.
+1 to that, Sir..!And you will be pleasantly surprised about the significant gain in your vocabulary if you employ the dictionary in a tab approach! DeVille : listen up mayte. u in to too much of research
just go in for either of these - both are at par & as shared already, one is slightly whiter than the other.
choose ur pick & go for it.
agree on not going the HiD way - thats a sure shot way to kaputt ur battery.

Re: The Official Mumbai Offline Meet(G2G) Thread
I_Live2Ride. We need not be experts on the classics or quote Shakespeare and his brethren when writing. Simple but grammatically correct words convey the accurate and intended meaning BUT only when writing about generalist topics. the "its" and the "it's" makes a world of a difference in understanding what a person is speaking of...Originally posted by I_Live2Ride View PostAgreed... Where it comes to tech terms, an exact word HAS to be written. Sadly, it is up to the reader to understand the difference between a grommet and a flange.
This takes me back to 1995 when I was in Bangalore doing the Officers Transport Management Course at the ASMT. On the very first day, our instructor said" Understand the difference between a big end and a small end otherwise MY big end will be YOUR small end"
The usage of tech terms obviates the need to write pages and pages, as you have posted and instead, fixates the mind pin-pointedly on what is being spoken about, don't you agree? We use many such terms here - RPM, Nm, bHP etc.
