Going to Tansa Lake & Wildlife Sanctury this Sunday, need info on Route.

And is it worth going there ?

Take the Mumbai - Nashik highway.. around 50 kms from Thane you will see Aatgoan Station on left side of the road, leave the highway and take left turn towards Aatgoan station from there its a straight single road towards Tansa Lake...

Remember the road goes till Tansa Dam where you wont be admission, you need to check with locals for off-road routes towards lake just few kms before the Tansa Dam gate...

There are no shops around post Aatgoan so please carry water, Food with you or buy them at Aatgoan station only...

hi guys planning a ride to ashtavinayak ganpati in mahad,raigad i know the route is through nh17 since i and my friend are riding on my bike,we want to choose a different route any other route through go towards mahad we want expressway or double road,since mumbai-goa highway is kindoff risky for bike ridng and we have just one bike,no group!!!Need your help guys

Personally I love NH17 and would never miss a chance to ride on it... Mahad via NH17 is around 170 kms

Other possible way to reach is take NH4 (Old Mumbai- Pune Highway) till Pune and continue on same to reach Kapurhol.. Take right on highway and take Kapuhol - Bhor Road which will take you till Mahad.. however this route will be almost 280 kms

thanks brother is the kapurhol-bhor road safe i mean is it a sumsan type like are hotel available on road ??? if the bikes break down do we get anythng for help nearby!!

Its internal goan road don't expect it to be like highway... some villages in between...

If you haven't done long tours plan in a way that you don't have to ride during night time..

Also if possible I would suggest take NH17 its not the safest road but its one of the most fun one... just keep your limits and you should be fine

The internal road from pune-bhor-mahad which goes through Varandha ghat...the road from nh4 to bhor is in a bad shape but is doable ...after bhor. .the roads are good to ride

I think you are confusing between Mahad Astavinayak Ganapati near Khalapur, before Khopoli & the Mahad that comes after Loneri, NH17.
The Astavinayak Ganapati of Mahad is hardly 55km from Vashi. Go straight on the Mumbai-Pune old highway, NH-4, cross Panvel continue on the same NH-4 till Khalapur. After 1-2km from Khalapur take the right turn (you can see the Astavinayak board) before UK's hotel, then its a single way that's ends at the mandir (1km).

Brother i m talkin About the Varda Vinayak Ganpati in Mahad,Raigad On Nh-17 the route u are teling he much kms would be in total!!

I want to visit Ballalashwar Ganpati and Vardavinayak in Mahad and Raigad!!!

NH 17 n distance n speed is not an issue, but Saturday is a Ramugiri day for sure. Thank u for the offer but I will let this one pass. I will have to settle for the Sunday breakfast ride I guess

Plan changed Going to Tansa lake on sunday morning.My Parents not allowing me to go nh17 since just me n my friend on my bike.Will go some day on nh17 for Raigad and Mahad Cha Ganpati!!!

Its a jungle man there is nothing but Tansa Lake / Tansa Dam...

We usually go there with some food sit by the lake chit chat for some time enjoy our food and return...

Please dont take me wrong but Ride Like Tansa / Igatpuri / Lonavala / Charoti are not considered long rides for most of the regular guys here these fall under Breakfast ride meaning start at 7 AM return before 11 AM
