One last thing, is there any wildlife sanctuary ? something like National Park Borivali.

Don't expect any wildlife other than few birds & Ducks in Tansa lake... It's nothing like Borivali national no crowd or morning cyclist / joggers etc...

There is check post but we never bother to slow down and the guys there never bother to stop us...

Just make sure you carry water / Food with you and extra cloths if you wish to take dip in lake...

Lets ride to either Charoti/ Lonavala/ Somewhere on NH3 on Sunday, 22 December ( probably 2013's last breakfast Run.. ). Hence, calling all the vella riders.... Destination will be finalised in the next week :thumbup:.

Calender hill gaya kya 29th is the last Sunday of 2013... I won't be able to do 22nd but 29th I am game !!

Will be heading tomorrow early morning to Vansda National Park http://goo.gl/maps/9RcqJ

Plan is to leave early morning by 6-7 am from Virar (First toll naka after fountain) tank up and ride till kamat(or ahura) for breakfast. Then procede to location and reach around noon. Will have halka pulka lunch and roam arround the NP. will carry snaks and juice for small camping scenario. Then head back by 5. Anyone interested to join me do let me know as soon as possible.

My riding speeds will be not more than 80 as my bike tends to redline by then.

This post needs a very quick reply, preferably by a fone call at 9624349964 (Rajkot number). I am Whatsapp too.


I have been posted out of Rajkot to a place in Rajasthan and will be riding up to join my new duty. Presently, I use Cramster Colt saddle bags (the upturned exhaust compatible ones, hope the name is right). But they are a bit frayed and unsightly now. Also, their capacity is less for my projected usage in the years ahead.


I plan to invest in the Rynox Nomad V2 bags but am not sure if they are compatible with the CBR due to the upturned exhaust.


Please, could anybody here send me a foto with the bags installed on the bike OR advise me about the aforementioned compatibility issue? I need a reply very fast as I have less than 2 days to decide and acquire the bags.

Hello Riders, I plan to ride from Thane to Vangni coming saturday for a stargazing event. Will be starting @4 pm from thane. Need to ask you guys about the best possible route for the same. My options are:

1. Thane- EE Highway - Mumbra bypass - Kalyan shilphata road - Pipeline road

2. Thane - EE highway - Kalyan phata on nh3 - Kalyan badlapur road.

Need your suggestions regarding best possible route to take considering road conditions and traffic conditions, if anyone has used these routes before.

Did a Mumbai - Bordi - Jawhar - Mumbai ride last Sunday. Covered almost 400 Kms.

Bordi was very peaceful with a clean beach and less crowded as well. A perfect 1 day getaway for Mumbaikars. Roads leading to Bordi from Charoti turning are in good shape with a few rough patches in between.

Jawhar is a very quiet, scenic and pictersque hill station. Still lies unexplored and unheard by many. Both the points ie Hanuman and Sunset were great. Did not have time to visit the famous Palace there. Roads leading to Jawhar from Charoti turning are not that great but still somehow rideable.

Overall both the places were great and Jawhar does demand an overnight stay to be fully explored.
In short, a very challenging and a thrilling ride, especially the ride back from Jawhar to Mumbai at night (under the full moon with jungle on both sides and not many vehicles around)

You will get traffic no both during evening, Mumbra bypass is in no good conidition, plus there is a road construction work going on in Kalyan after Kongaon till Murbaad Road & it will be jam packed in evening time Murbad road)...

in end I will Prefer Mumbra Bypass

Thanks for the info, but AFAIK, kalyan- badlapur road in my option no.2 will completely bypass murbad, I will be going through, vitthalvadi, ambarnath, etc. So hopefully only a little traffic between kongaon and vitthalvadi..Have you used this road before? Any info you have on that would be useful.

[MENTION=61028]whymail[/MENTION]. Thanks for the lead. I checked out an excellent video of the set being mounted on a CBR and even spoke to their Mumbai branch. No issues about fouling with the exhaust.

However, the video brought another unrelated issue into focus, namely, the mounting of the set over the saddle. I have put up an image wherein, the circled area is where I fear that the cloth will tear - there is no vertical support on and under each individual bag onto which the load of the for the saddle straps will be transferred. Instead, the load is taken by the horizontal strap running the length of the bag and as can be seen in the image, specifically on one small area. Am doing a rethink of the deal now.

That's very true [MENTION=33779]icemang[/MENTION] ... Its clear that those stress points will certainly give way under load.
Besides the point, as a mandate, all saddle bags are advisable to be mounted over a BBQ grill on both sides of the wheel lest the weight of the luggage makes the bags get in the way of the running tire.
Most of the distant tourers hence usually have a removable metal skeleton / frame to be fixed in place of grab rails as & when required.

Not Murbaad ! but Murbaad Road the one which start right after you take left to enter Kalyan city after KonGaon... From EEH to the Kongaon no issues.... !!!

I think 29th would be a Ramugiri day for most of the public out here... since 31st is Tuesday and is a holiday in most of the offices, most people will tend to take a leave on 30th and make it a 4 day long vacation.... Hence, 22nd would be my choice for a quick breakfast/ photo session ride.

Problem is I have party to attend on 21st evening which will go one till late and chances of me being in riding condition for Sunday morning become very thin ... but anyway do let me know what plan cooks up...
