..once for puc less than one year old R15 (but 25K kms) and
the other for not carrying the document as I went to grab some burgers and the document were in my riding pouch!)

I reasoned with the cops and ended up saying I am not paying you anything... please make a paavti as per the rules...and they let me go for free

Sneaking a 50 is a lame option... carrying proper documents is both easier and convenient!

Ok I guess u r talking about the reneval PUC check that is done after a year from the purchase of a new bike. Coz like spidy said, even i heard a lot of my frnds say that new bike's PUC last for a year.

A PUC for new bike lasts a year (12 months only)
Exactly.. Dealing with RTO over lost RC shall not be easy as i figured out with one of my frnd facing the same problem last year.
Ashamed to accept the fact but Its just that I have a bad tendency for lane cutting every now & then. I follow all other rules but always have hard time with lane cuttings. By lane cutting I dont mean lane cutting @ high speeds, i mean lane cuttings at the traffic signals where cops r always present, especially the place where i live, each traffic signal is densely crowded with cops & they r always busy levying fines on motorists So there is high probability for me getting stuck with traffic police & they do demand 4 all the documents just to add up the rules I broke & increase my fine. On a brighter side, I'v been improving & ding get stopped by any cop since last 3 months

Traffic cops dont agree 4 Rs 50 anymore yaar, I bargain hard but they just ask me to give Rs 100 now or pay it later in the police station & recover my Licence.. Still I'v managed to please them with rs 80-90 on the couple of occassions that i ever got caught

      • Yeah but it shouldn't be much of a problem. Some would rather part with 50-100 bucks once in a blue moon. Carrying originals comes handy if you ride at night when Naka Bandi's are quite common. There's no other option in that case.

              • In my purely personal opinion, giving away 50-80-100-150-1000Rs is 'the-most-lame' thing that you could ever do... come what may...
If you made a mistake, the government allows you to pay a fine for it.... by bribing you are doing another mistake....

Be good, be nice with the cops and be clean with your documents and you never need to cough up a bribe.

and btw cutting lanes is not a bad thing at any speeds.
Cutting lanes without indicating so, and more ever cutting lane (with or without indicating) in a manner which can be dangerous to you AND others around is bad!

                  • Hey Guys,

Have been seeing some xBhp stickered bikes on the roads nowdays... Met mohsin (worrisomebear) (while admiring his ZMR ;P) a few days back, and just yesterday evening saw someone on a black CBZ with xBhp on the helmet along mahim-bandra stretch (couldnt get close enough to say hi due to traffic ) That just got me thinking that we should have some visible sign so that other board members are able to see a fellow rider... Stickers are not that visible unless your close by and lettering will not look that great on most helmets.... So some alternatives like arm-bands maybe??? What say?

                      • Not required per se, but I think people meeting in such a unplanned way could be fun Not making a suggestion of putting on a uniform or such just maybe a some small identifier.... and it would be optional, of course

Am not pointing to anyone in particular, every one has different way of looking at things. But I personally don't understand the logic behind giving cops 50/100 Rs when we pay the bike company full amount for all the clear documents and more over when we have all the documents with us. It's only about carrying them SAFELY with while riding. The other benefit is you save time. If you have all the valid documents with you, you can simply show'em to the cops and leave straight away instead of wasting time negotiating with the cops. This is especially important when you are pulled over by cops when you in real hurry or getting late for something very important. One more thing, I don't think cops these days settle down for 50 bucks. Min they want is 100 bucks..

This reminds me, now a days a lot of people are getting the stickers made locally even if they aren't the member of xBhp(with proper forum identity - login id). One night I was coming back from Vile Parle and near Mahim, at St. Michael church, couple of bikers came next to me at traffic signal. Not to mention they were lidless One of them was on Pulsar and the other on CBZ with stickers on their bikes. When I asked them about their xbhp id, they simply said.. woh kya hota hai? Humne toh yeh ek sticker wale se liya. I was like... They didn't even know a word of English.

what's serious here is, sometimes careless riders like these have fatal accidents and then the whole community is held responsible(even though aren't part of the community at all). Just a sticker.....
