Im in, lets make it this sundayOriginally posted by Rony View PostWith reference to the thread pasted below
I would sincerely like to request our dear seniors to PLEASE arrange a similar G2G here in Mumbai and all fellow Mumbai-xBhpians to attend it.
Its always fun to ride a bike as we all know but knowing how it works and how to take its care and how to repair it in case of sudden breakdown and how to master riding techniques like cornering, will surely makes us all a more confident and responsible biker.
I guess most of the bikers here may be knowing quiet a lot about their bikes but few like me are totally noob when it comes to mechanics of bikes and the jargon related to it. Speaking about myself, I am so cautious regarding my bike that I never even think to use my tools on it and do some daily maintenance checks only due to lack of bike related knowledge. I am an electronics engineer which certainely helps me to understand the electrical/electronics part related to bikes but when it comes to mechanical parts I know nothing.
Such G2Gs will help noobs like me to understand their ride better and maintain it well. The seniors can put light on many other biking related issues too as and when they are discussed.
Touring, Eating, Drinking, Gossiping, etc is ok with D2D G2Gs but we should make a point to add value to them by discussing such technical topics and sharing our experiences. We can surely learn from xBhp-Punekars who conduct / are soon going to conduct such G2Gs and benifit from them.
PS: Its not always that seniors should take initiative on such issues. We as new-bies should make a point to show our interest for such things and repeatedly request our seniors to do the needful.Ripping the streets of Bombay on my P250 M

PS: Lets not hurry up ! ..... In such short notice it would be difficult for all to co-ordinate and prepare for the meet ...... moreover on sunday its Dusshera so I dont expect many to turn out ~!Last edited by Rony; 10-15-2010, 01:59 AM.

okay...im in...but it doesnt mean that i'l rip my bike apart(none of them) since i love to get my hands dirty !Originally posted by maypraja View PostHehehe...Antz...+1 on that...
Guys we have a variety of bikes...all those who love to get their hands dirty, lets begin with the basics of maintaining the bikes...oil change, air filter cleaning, chain setting, clutch setting, many things that we tend to give it to the mechanics which we can be doing...thats what we can start with...
How many riders in on this kind of meet...
we could bringup some service centre guy or even do this g2g at a mechanic's garage....would be a nice learning experience and a better g2g but only with active and enthusiastic participation!
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Very good points raised Rony..!!
This kind of meet will be definitely very helpful & useful for each of us. Am sure everyone here would be interested & curious to know the How-To-Do basic things on our bike. Even am in for such wonderful knowledge distribution g2g.!
@Pranit_Crystal Myth .. if its an in-city meet, then no need of 'full gears' I guess, but the more gears & safe, the better.! B'coz, wearing a gear should be a habit rather then a rule now..!

Thanks for showing interest ninad, we should take this very seriously and plan for it soon ... And regarding ripping apart your bike is concerned I think it would be a voluntary decision which needs to be made by the biker himself .... As far as inclusion of mechanic is concerned it seems to be a good idea but the mechanic should be unbiased and have ample of time to explain us all the details and clear our doubts .... and I totally agree with you on the last point regarding active and enthusiastic participation !!Originally posted by nin View Posti really appreciate that you brought that up....we really could do that...

How many of them want to know DIY stuff and which topic in particular.. Please list down a master list of topics and then which of these are upi interested to learn.
DIY = Do It Yourself.... There is an interesting analogy to it which I will share in the first meet...
PS: Stop comparing yourself with Pune and all... Pune folks meet every mid week for a casual G2G as well, the sheer volumes of G2Gs and the availability of the fantastic places like Motocafe makes it an ideal place for such discussion.... Apna gang doesnt meet as often...Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

U Can Do it !!
Many topics are listed in that Chennai thread ... Seniors can sort them out in order of importance and tackle some in batches during consecutive G2Gs ... It would be better if seniors themselves enlist relevant topics and you in particular could take the lead in doing so for all the right reasonsOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View PostHow many of them want to know DIY stuff and which topic in particular.. Regarding xBhp-Punekars, I was not comparing ourselves with them but deriving some inspiration to better our gang !
