  • @Rachit --> The best thing that came out of the incident was that I cut my speed by half and the rest of the way to work was very, very sane, though I did reach very late (11:15 - but Govt. hai, chalta hai )

@Satyen -> Nice one, methinks I better start using my Unicorn again (and I do mean my bike )

          About Dudhani in brief

The ride from Silvassa to Dudhni (almost 45 Km) is full of bends, curves, mountains, slopes and lush green as well as colourful road covering forests. The place apart from the natural beauty has also been developed very nicely into a family picnic spot. The Damanganga River has been passionately decorated at the Madhuban Dam and the enhanced beauty simply blows one of the feet. It is also possible to fulfill the desire to go water scooting o the river stretch that has been specially crafted for adventure as well as leisure sports. The scenic beauty of the place is an added advantage always fascinating the tourists with its pleasant elegance.

Appendix A - Places to visit in Silvassa

Church of Our Lady of Piety
The Portuguese once ruled Silvassa and only in the year 1954 did it attain freedom. The consequences of colonialisation still reflect in the architectural aspects of the city which is surrounded by rustic stone walls hence having a heritage of its own. One of the few structures reminiscent of Portuguese architecture is the Church of Our Lady of Piety. It is one of the oldest churches here and was built by the Portuguese when Silvassa was under their regime. The most beautiful part of the church is the internal and external archway which is exquisitely decorated. It is situated just opposite to the famous Tribal museum and hence will be easy to locate.

          Tribal cultural Museum
Silva in Portuguese means wood and this is very true as when you drive through Silvassa you will find rows and rows of trees whizzing past you. The landscape here is scenic and beautiful with its meandering rivers, lush forests and cascading hills. The area is still undeveloped and is largely occupied by tribes for whom the forest is their medium of survival.

The history of these tribes dates back to centuries and their rich culture and history is preserved in the Tribal Cultural Museum is located in the heart of Silvassa. Located near the Tourist Information Centre it was established in the year 2000. It is also called as Chaar Rasta and depicts the socio cultural heritage of the simple tribal folks of the Union Territory. The museum showcases masks, fishing gear, musical instruments, hunting tools, household item, kitchen articles and agricultural implements used by the local tribes for centuries. The main attraction here is the life-size statues of the local tribes and their leaders portraying their lifestyle.

This is a wonderful place to visit before you venture into the interiors of the forests to learn more about these tribes. It is also a great structure as it preserves the rapidly vanishing tribal culture.

          Vandhara Udyan
Just a few kilometers away from Silvassa the Vanganga Lake and Island Garden is a spectacular lake garden. It has a garden on an island which is quite a beautiful sight. Wooden bridges and pretty flowers add too its beauty. For those of you who are keen on fitness can jog along the jogging path laid out here while breathing in the fresh air. There are thatched huts along the garden and paddleboats on the lake. The main attraction here is boating and you can find many people on the paddle boats enjoying the calm waters of the lake. The park which is closed on Tuesdays has its share of couples snuggling in corners as well as families with children frolicking around. There is also the occasional film shooting which takes place here so there is a chance that you might spot a celebrity doing a Bollywood song and dance sequence. There are food joints in the garden so if you get hungry you can grab a bite from here.

There is also the Vandhara Udyan, which is a riverside park and is similar to the Vanganga Lake and Island Garden. It has sprawling and stunning lawns dotted with lovely porches. There are also quaint little pavilions which provide shelter to those who visit the park. It is an ideal spot for picnickers.

@all: So where are we riding this weekend?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.
