I would be informing some members of Xbhp in Kolkata by tomorrow that a G2G is being planned on Sunday 6th February...........the meeting point would be Rajarhat DLF Bus stand at 5 o'clock Sunday evening.
But the final place and time would come up on Saturday after judging what kind of traffic congestion the Kolkata Book Fair might cause at EM bypass on its last day,and it would be decided by tomorrow.
In case, the arterial road is expected to be busy it might have to be postponed again till next Sunday.
Lets be hopeful

Events in Kolkata Biking circles.........
It has been a long time since anything significant has occurred here at Kolkata Xbhp G2G thread. Most probably the members are busy or are saving fuel given the price hike.
Anyway, but the Biking circle keeps rolling individually.
We did have a small G2G where the members StayajitRC,Onwheels,Mandeep,SunnyKonkal and myself met up.Bappaditya aka Onwheels had bought a new Red Karizma R and gave a dinner party for us at Airport dhaba
Apart from that we had a dirt rally here in Kolkata, which is a concept new to bikers in the city and the biking populace were interested in it.I covered the event, and here are some pictures and two videos from it.

A R15 on a dirt track !!! No wonder we bikers let out anything to play anywhere, and it did grab a prize !!!

The Rally prepared bikes in the stands, everything from Shogun to Karizma,Unicorn to Fiero,Pulsar to RXs were there !!!

And we had winners, though there had been single participants in certain categories
!!

Our own Xbhpian Neil had bagged a prize in a segment where he was without any competition

Well the real bikes that rocked the race were the RX135,Shogun,Karizma and Fieros.......the R15 did amaze with good timing on this kind of track and the lonely Pulsar220 posted slowest times of the day.
The short Videos of Dirt rally.
Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.
The fastest RX135 and a maverick Fiero going around the circuit

Well, the cagers did not want to let go of the excitement either and the modded Lancer,Baleno,Esteem and an imported Lancer EVO Tom Hakkinnen edition did some dirty things too
Apart from this,
the Xbhp moderator MG Biker 1086 was on a tour in the city and he also hanged out with us in the evening and had dinner.Among the things he liked was my bike GS150R
and Bikemanic's wonderful insights about biking and food

Left to Right : MG Biker, Myself, Sunny Konkal, Gibran aka Bikemanic (as usual entertaining us with his insights
)
Overall Biking and life is going on as usual, nothing to complain about but in sweet memories of all Biker brothers who were with us and also who are still around us.Last edited by MACH50; 02-25-2011, 11:41 PM.Hell's Angel

Nowhere yet Somewhere
6.30 a.m. – Time of Contact
3 – No. of Riders
165.89 Kms. – The Total Touring Journey
A small nondescript village beyond Jhikra off Amta – The Place

Srikant and Ayaz were waiting reached the Vidyasagar Toll Bridge at 6.30 a.m. and I was to join them from there to continue on this journey. Early on we did decide on going to Azad Hind Dhaba either on the Right (Delhi rd.) or the Left (Mumbai rd.), but it had become too common a place to visit so the discussion transpired to a little off-roading and a little tarmac riding. And so it was. I got a little late in reaching the Toll as a truck had got stuck on the Andul rd. (near Botanical Gardens) and a few meters’ ahead another six-wheeler decided to dump sand hence had to make a small detour
. A few calls later, we met near the Santragachi Flyover where I found them tucking in a few bites on chicken mayonnaise sandwiches. After a few customaries, I had to fill up my Bruno (it has become quite thirsty) at the Truck Stop pump. Then our bikes flew. Since I had the inkling but a not thorough picture of the place, I was knighted the Navigator. I had a notion that we could have make a turn before Kolaghat or Uluberia but stopped to confirm for the route with the locals. We came to know that it would be better to follow the earlier route (mentioned in the Intro) as it would take us through more villages. After the turn at Amta, we took a small rest there we found out that a small snag had developed in Srikant’s bike that of being a partially clogged Air Filter as well as mine a loose footrest nut
.

But still we surged ahead other than a few stops as confusion was clouding my mind
as there has been much development in the area. When I had gone there ten years back the area had much greenery and hillocks with small wooden bridges but that day I found out that most of the hillocks have been shaved to make mud homes in the villages but was happy to see that the wooden bridges had been built strong to support small cars (we found quite a few Omnis and few three – wheeled contraptions called trekkers crossing over) with small toll booths taking Rs.2 for bikes. Soon, we had crossed Jhikra and landed into nowhere ( it was a place called Muchiatta) where took turns taking some snaps and relieving ourselves. Then, Ayaz motioned that we could go to the middle of the partially dried river bed which we all agreed for some off-roading business and photo ops. Then we finally came to a really small sized track trickling across hillocks leading through agri fields, that’s where the fun began. Oh yes the footrest bolt gave way
, so I had to change gears using the pillion footrest. Anyways, off to the sand bars then.
Then we made a small run through a sandy track
to test the traction of our rubbers and found that the Michelins’ Sirac Dual purpose on Srikants’ and my bike were fantastic

(mine both front and rear were brand new, bought it a day before) while the Zapper on Ayazs’ had little or no grip at all
. So, after landing on the river bed, Srikant was the first to go ahead to the river of what it was left. His Ritz being big but light pulled through the sands well enough, had a tough time near the middle of the river as the sands was a bit sludgy while my Bruno being compact but still very heavy had a more harder struggle (Front Sirac narrow, was digging into the sand) although the pulling was great. Although some of the villagers using the dried river bed as a pathway were worried for us as they thought we had gone bonkers to use bikes to go across the river. Finally we had a brilliant idea together which was to have a sand burn out with all three bikes and that we did. And I must say that it was fantabulous to have all three to stand in the sand on their own without support. We settled down for some snacks which my two buddies had bought as I had notified that we would not be getting grub there locally in the middle of the fields and had to carry our own rations. Soon, some villagers passing by inquired about our actual habitats and purpose of visit (quite politically motivated villages back there), an old gentleman showed some of his purchases among which there was rice for making murries which sparked of discussions for the next trip to some other village setup with odles of time.
Soon we came out of there with some initial huffing and puffing with the bikes with ultimate muscal power of Ayaz who lifted his bike straight from the sands. After coming out of there I checked my oddo trip meter which showed an exact 80kms up (excluding the burnout, I had taken out the oddo wire for correct approximations). So, we pushed up nonstop until we reached the highway, all the way this time I was the rear watching people in awe of our machines which we wouldn’t glance as being so common around in the cities but for them a Karizma, an Apache and a Pulsar Classic riding at high speeds that too in unison was attraction for them, although I did notice a few Splendors, Boxers, an R15(rider without safety), an old Rajdoot, few M80s’ and Chetaks, but lots of those three wheeled contraptions, a kind of hybrid of old Rajdoot, Yezdi and Bullet Motors adding to a reinforced trolley, guzzling a mix of Kerosene and Diesel.
Hitting the highway we soon realized that we were hungry after all this excitement, so I chose a place near Alampur for grub while Ayaz decided to move ahead as he had prior appointments, . And soon we ate, revived snaps & videos and planned for the next assault.Last edited by chris_terror; 03-01-2011, 01:10 PM.PLAYTIMES' OVER KID
