Naren the best I can suggest is Mr. Harsha of TOPGEARS, he is one of the best mechanics you can find here in Bangalore. His place is in Tata Silk Farm, it might not be very close to you, but believe me he is really GOOD. I 've been going to him for more than 10 years now. As of now he is not in station, he'll be back by mid May. If you want any more details about him you can PM me. Sorry for the OT.

I would second GD's opinion on Harsha's capabilities. He is pretty darn good and very reasonable as well. He is closed till end of May and I also suggest you to give ur bike to him and get it serviced when he gets back.

            • Hi guys, I need some directions.
I am going to Kerala (Trichur to be exact) next weekend. Last time I had taken the highway throughout (blr-krishnagiri-salem-coimbatore-plakkad-tcr).
From xBHP I have come to know that there is another route that diverts from Krishnagiri or someplace in b/w.
Could someone give me directions for that route?
              Is that route longer?

There's a deviation from Hosur which syncs up with the NH after Krishnagiri via Palacode. Saves you about 30ish kms. Last I heard (3 months back), the route was really good. Then there's another shorter route through Mettur Dam, for which you'll have to take a deviation at Thoppur. This road is also nice, and takes you over the Mettur Dam. It's not all that scenic, but compared to the GQ route via Salem, it's a lot better. Will also save you around 20-30 kms again.

Will be riding there (to Palghat) on Tuesday. Will let you know how the route is.

                    @Trigger:

From Hosur, take a right towards Rayakottai. That road goes via Palakkodu (deviate at Palakkodu for Hogannekkal Falls) and then bypasses Dharmapuri to touch Jettihalli on NH7 directly. This will save u about 50-60kms. Note that this road is a state road.

Alternatively, if u r more adventurous, go via Denkanikottai, Anchetti, Pennagaram, Mechcheri, Mettur, Bhavani, then proceed on NH47 to hit Trissur. U might save about 100kms, but u might spend longer time on the saddle.

mapymyindia gives u the route via K'giri only.

MapmyIndia - maps, directions, and local search across India - just search, print and go!

You could also go via Kollegal, Chamrajnagar, Coimbatore, Trissur. Shorter by about 50kms.

Wouldn't recommend this route. Not one bit. Had multiple nightmares after coming down this route a year back. My dad travelled this route again last week. Same issues.

Oh.. ok.. thanks for the warning. So that route is striked out.

Ok, I checked the map and starting with the info from you guys, this looks like a good route.

and thanks for the route info. Where does the Mettur dam route meet up with the NH?
It syncs up with the NH at Bhavani. And even the Kollegal route is nonsense. The roads are good upto Chamrajnagar, but then on it's bad. Mithun and I did this route in December. But Sksy, hisunil and few others did htis route last weekend. If you want to ride down through that route, check with them.

                            • Well, looks like K'giri - Dharmapuri - Salem - CBE - Trissur would be the only decent way to travel.
