Personally I would prefer to take NH17 all the way till Pune. Going to hubli/belgaum and then riding to pune will add somewhere close to 150kms. Roads are good overall on NH17. Speeds might not be the same as you can have on NH4 , but neither too slow also.

Re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
The khanapur route is not worth to be taken , you have some bad patches which might be uncomfortable for the pillion. If you want to get to Belagaum, you can opt for karwar-pondaSanquelim-Chorla-Jamboti-Macche-belgaum route. Except for a small stretch near the border rest of the roads are very good. The conditions on the yellapur route is also good overall. You have to come back some distance to get to ankola bypass to turn left for hubli, which again adds more distance.Originally posted by Viper1089 View Post

Thanks! I guess then it would make sense to take the chorla-ponda route while going and coming back too. NH17 is a riders delight. Though I wanted to avoid it all the way as its a single lane and is filled with careless drivers. But the Chorla route seems to meet my needs. I can maintain good speeds on NH4 and also I heard from a colleague that Chorla ghat is in pristine condition right now.Originally posted by phanikar View PostThe khanapur route is not worth to be taken , you have some bad patches which might be uncomfortable for the pillion. Re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
Hello guys, I will be riding from mumbai to udupi and have mapped my route. Still i have a doubt. Should i take a west turn from hubli to ankola via yellapur and ride costal to udupi or should i go till ranebennur on nh4 and then turn west to udupi directly? Any ideas about the road conditions of both?

The coastal road is good. And it is fun to ride too. Make sure you cover the journey from hubli to udupi in daylight. That road gets messy with trucks and busses in the night. Plus you miss all the beautiful vistas on the way if u r travelling at night.Originally posted by saket View PostHello guys, I will be riding from mumbai to udupi and have mapped my route. Also, most importantly ride safe on that road. Make sure u never cross 70. Since its a two way traffic you have to be cautious while driving on that route, can't travel with same adrenaline as you travel on mumbai to hubli. I insist you take the hubli ankola Kumta udupi road as it's real fun to ride, but be safe.
Have fun, Cheers

agreed!!!
The nh17 is all fun to ride with d occassional village or town unlike d nh4 wich i feel is pretty boring.and would take d same time as d route from Hubli.roads from ratnagiri till kumta r 2 lane. Are well laid tarmac with occassional rough patch.
Ride safe.

One thing I cannot understand is why wasn't I notified of this when we had a discussion well in advance about me want-ing to be a part of the witnesses (whenever the SS attempt happens) and contribute in some way?
Well since many things aren't put out in the open, I don't want to speculate further. But it was a let down for me at least.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Milestones
Kolhapur 7am
Hubli 12 noon
Ankola 3 pm
Udupi 9pm
I had a flat tyre before hubli and got a bit delayed. Fortunately it was in front of a petrol pump. The last 100kms was riding in the dark after 6pm so rode very slow. And BTW I ride a 110cc hero xpro so riding long and fast is very risky

Nothing big deal
How much I know he didn't informed anyone because their sole motive was to try out because they didn't wanted to push to attempt and finish it somehow.
Rather his plan started when I was on my Pune-Indore trip and if you would have observed he used to continuously ask me about road conditions on whatsapp group.
Still he/they were unsure.
And moreover he informed me last evening that thy are trying out so called me up in phone for latest/final updates of Bangalore Pune road.
As a good luck adieu I and Sauban only went to great them.
So nothing big deal .
Rather he only told witness ka proof no one checks, it's all on papers.
So no worries, their are more people who will now turn up and guess people are already planning too, so many more stuff to come up.
There are always numerous situations with dozen more internal situations, so nothing to speculate rather nothing to go haywire from it.
Peace.

Re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
there are multiple routes which you can take to go to gokarna from coorg. however, the best route for me is to take the mangalore route (it will save you some odd 100 kms or so). From madikeri, take the SH 88 all the way till Mani where you join the Bangalore-Mangalore highway. This part of SH 88 is not perfect, with some potholes, at places, but would not make you feel uncomfortable. Once you hit the Bangalore Mangalore highway, you would encounter good tarmac. Once you reach Mangalore, you would reach a junction from where you should take the right towards Udupi (the NH 17). Road is in pretty good shape and you would enjoy riding here for sure, especially at one place you would encounter Kali river on your right and the Arabian sea on your left. This NH 17 takes you directly to Gokarna.Originally posted by sumit.rhl View PostHi buddies,
