By the way isn't GS Betta on the way to bandipur?? i heard the roads are bad specially during rains over there??

But covering 400kms means one has to be on the faster side.

Never been there...so no idea about road quality,etc! Regarding places of interest, just google up pics of that place! Or someone in this thread might be kind enuf to share pics from their ride(s) to GS Betta!

However, there were no Prafulish antics that day

In any case, 400kms is too much for me with all the work i have. Im planning on a DD/Nandi hills sprint in the coming week. Planning on whacking the limiter on my bike when it clocks 2k kms (Odo read 1500 as of now)

GS Betta would be a little less than 500 kms for the whole day, its beyond Gundulpet... I've done it 3 times (2 bike trips, 1 trip in a cage)... Here goes the route... Preferably leave very early in the morning, the temple opens at 9 AM or so, but you can spend time enjoying the beauty of the landscapes... Don't forget to carry a binoculars if you have one, if you are lucky, you can spot deer, elephants and if extremely leopards too (v.v.v.v.remote chance, since they don't venture during daylight)...

Bangalore - Mysore - Nanjangud - Gundulpet (Go straight after crossing this town and take the one that goes towards Bandipur, condition of road gets slightly bad from here on. The road from which you get deviated take you to Kerala). After traveling for a few kms (<10) or so, you'll find a very prominent arch on the right hand side. From here on again around 15 kms and you'll reach Himavad Gopalswamy Betta. {Condition of the road till Gundulpet is good, can easily hit 90+ all the while, from Gundulpet deviation to arch is very bad (max 30-40) & from arch to the hill-top, it's manageable, if not good(can hit 50-60 kmph)}. We covered this route in about 4.5 - 5 hours on bikes with couple of breaks. Bandipur is not far away from this place and you can have your lunch @ Bandipur Plaza & also take a Safari ride if time permits... Possibility of sighting wild animals is somewhat high during this time of the year (Provided you go at the right time of the day...)

*P.S: Don't go too far from the GS temple exploring the mountains, you are entering the natural habitat of animals (read bear, elephant etc...) The watchman there told me that a bunch of guys was attacked by a bear who ventured deep...

Cousin's marriage on 27th, so will not be able to make it

Yes I remember him from the GIR ride, but I don't remember riding like my hair was on fire that day!

GS Betta and me seem to be jinxed, I need to back in town by lunchtime coz of some commitments!

Still considering closer places to ride to!
