Oh no! I'm reading . I'm heading out Thursday early morning to Virajpet. Gotta cast my vote. I'd be scaling an obscure hill on Fri. If circumstances permit, Might join you for some free ranging in Madikeri, Bhagamandala & a short recco of the Bhagamandala - Kasaragod route .

Day 0(Thursday): If we are able to finish off all the work on Thursday, prefer to start the drive on Thur evening and try to reach Mysore & halt for the day and start fresh on Friday morning towards Madikeri...

If we're unable to start on Thur evening, then we'll start on 1st Morning around 4:00 AM and here goes the details for the same...

Day 1: Bangalore – Mysore - Bylkopppa - Madikeri (Local Sight-Seeing) – Bhagamandla - Kasargod (Visit Bekal Fort & halt)

Day 2: Kasargod – Mangalore – Udupi – Agumbe – Thirthahalli (If time permits will try to reach Shimoga, else halt at Thirthahalli. Idea is to drive at Agumbe and the route may change depending on the conditions).

Day 3: Visit nearby places around Shimoga and then drive back to Bangalore...

I own a Honda Unicorn and my friend has a brand new RE Machismo 500 cc. Since its still in run-in period, he might not exceed 60 kmph or so . Planning to drive around 300-350 kms per day with about 8-10-12 hours of driving. Its more of a leisure drive with good number of ‘Photo Klick breaks’ rather than a rally-race . If anyone interested / need more info, let me know.

                  @ Tom, are you listening
@Pranesh: I went to Mangalore thru Madikeri and came back thru Kudremukh last week. The scenery is breathtaking..... and the roads in Madikeri are really bad. It took us 3 hours to cover the distance between Kushalnagar and Sampaje (~65kms). So be warned of sore butts within half the journey. Again, the road from Kasargod to Bekal Fort is horrible. So be prepared for that too.

I suggest u deviate from Madikeri and head south to Virajpet - Cannanore - Kasargod - Bekal Fort

From there, head north to Mangalore - Udupi - Someshwar - Agumbe/Tirthahalli- Shimoga.

The Kudremukh ghats are awesome and u could also halt at the resort there called Silent Valley Resort or at Kalasa.

                  My 2 paise.

Oh ok... Let's see if we can catch up @ Madikeri on 1st, it'd be great if you can join us in the exploratory route to Kasargod , my friend has done Madikeri - Kasargod via Bhagamandala and was telling that its a short-cut route which is hardly used by anyone and is more of an off-roading track... Can't wait till Friday , have PM'ed my contact #, give me urs...

                    • @Prajwal: 3 hours from Madikeri to Sampaje!!!!

Its not that bad, even with a gentle right hand it can easily cover it 2 hours easy!

@Pranesh: Since you are heading that end you must not miss Kudremukh! Would be be beautiful with the recent rains!! Just a thought, Bylakuppe, Madikeri Local and Bhagamandala might be a lot to do considering that you will be averaging 30-35 kmph

Nice pics there, I see that you took a nice long break post Kalasa near the tea gardens. But why no more pics of the stretch inside the Kudremukh forest reserve!!!!!

PS: I see that you have stopped at quite a few place where exactly I had taken a stop!

Photography is not really my forte. However, the reason there r very few stills from inside the kudremukh, is because I have the video of the twisties taken from my mounted cam in motion. Picture quality is low tho, coz I wanted longer videos, and my memory card is just 512mb.

Will post the videos sometime once they r uploaded.
