I had been to Chikmagalur recently.. Route is Bangalore - Haassan -Chikmagalur. Quite decent roads.Originally posted by Trigger View Postguys, could you give me some info on route and places to visit in Chikmagalur. for a weekend trip.
I was there only for few hours. I went to 'Mullayyannagiri' its around 18 kms from Chikmagalur. But a beautiful place.
Kemmanagund is also there. But its around 58 kms from town. Roads are quite bad it seems.
Other places I heard(i dint go..due to lack of time) of are :
1) Giridarshini (small hill station - 6km - Mangalore road)
2) Mahatma Gandhi Park - Ratnagiri hill - View of city
3) Kaimara to Kemmanagundi (57kms - roads are bad - 2.5-3 hrs, Mullayannagiri)
4) Balehonnur & Sringeri (Coffee plantations)
5) Kudremukh (hill station)
6) Agumbe (3hrs) - I went here.. sunset view was good.
7) Malayamarutha (50km)
8) Hirekolale pond
9) Rameshwaram (big pond, 6km)

The nearest will be Cochin around 130 kms from kerala or Udumalpet from Tamil nadu - 85kms. But if you are coming from Pune, Choose Coimbatore which is 150kms from Munnar.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostCould anyone tell me closest railway station to Munnar..

Mahatma Gandhi park is just a small park, if you goto ratnagiri hill, you won't realise it is a hill. It's on the way to Mullayanagiri!!Originally posted by allen View PostI had been to Chikmagalur recently.. Route is Bangalore - Haassan -Chikmagalur. Quite decent roads.

Places to see around Chikamagalur, leave chikamagalur in morning, goto:
1. Mullayanagiri
2. Baba Budan Giri.
3. Devaramanna betta (trek from Manikya dhara which is in baba budan giri)
4. Goto Kemmana gundi. Have Lunch or late lunch.
5. Trek to Shanti falls, Z SPOT
6. Ride down to kalathagiri falls.
7. From there ask someone for a route back to Chikamagalur. You have to take a right at the end of the road to reach chikamagalur if you take left you go to Bangalore side via tarikere or arsikere
8. Head back to Chikamaglur.
9. Eat Masala dosa/Benne Dosa at Town Canteen. This opposite the college and polytechnic.
You can stay in Hotel Ramdev for 450 rupees a day for 2 bed. Don't forget to eat in Town Canteen
Other places to see near chikamaglur:
Muthodi forest, Aiyana Kere (2nd largest lake in karnataka), there is also a reservoir near the town but forgot what it is called, you can see it from Mullayana giri though..

then Coimbatore will be a better option, becoz trains to all other will go via Coimbatore. So getting down at Coimbatore will save some time. Then from Coimbatore go to udumalpet on bus(70kms, 1 bus every 3 mins). Then from Udumalpet to Munnar on bus(80kms, 1 bus every 30 mins).Originally posted by inder.cool View PostI would be coming from Pune only..!!
But, i would be traveling in a train..

Who would be a good mechanic to service a unicorn near Indiranagar? I find going to Harsha's on KR Road too far off from Ramamurty nagar.
Any suggestions?
