The TVS Apache RTR 310 is a stellar motorcycle. We already established that in our review. It stands out in its class in terms of technology. The performance is stellar. It looks pretty darn good too. And the last bit is what this piece is about. There are good-looking motorcycles and there are good-looking motorcycles with an ideology behind them. The TVS Apache RTR 310 belongs to the latter. The ideology here is that of the Freestyler.

Right from the teasers to the promotional content and even the launch, TVS put a lot of effort into making the Apache RTR 310 more than just a motorcycle. They wanted to make it into a symbol and as far as we are concerned, they have pretty much succeeded. As a performance naked, the Apache RTR 310 is just a motorcycle. As a Freestyler though, it is a whole lot more than that.

Soon after the launch, we completed our TVS flagship collection. The Apache RR 310 has been a part of the xBhp Garage for a while. And with the kind of motorcycle that the Apache RTR 310 turned out to be, we just had to make it a part of the xBhp Garage. Coming back to the symbolism behind the motorcycle, we took it to Lodhi Road, a place that shows when you think freely and let the creativity flow, magic happens. In a nutshell, the perfect place for the Freestyler!

We’ll start with the aforementioned launch event. The Apache RTR 310’s was a flashy launch that took place in Thailand. With the motorcycle being a street naked, TVS went to great lengths to create a stage that is fit for the launch of the Apache RTR 310 and everything it represents. It was amazing to see the effort that was put into creating this sort of street scene; skateboarding, graffiti artists, and more! On that front, we’d say that TVS succeeded in representing the spirit of the RTR in the best way possible.

Motorcycling, for a lot of people, is freedom. It serves as a medium for people to express themselves. The Apache RTR 310 accentuates that sense of freedom, the idea of being whoever or whatever one wants to be. It shows from the design of the motorcycle as well. It is edgy, radical, and yet, cohesive. In simpler terms, it makes sense and in this age, that is saying something. The yellow-grey colourway that we have here is what we had our eyes on right from the launch and as you can see, it looks quite stellar.

The design of the Apache RTR 310 is refreshing. From the dual-LED headlights and the unmistakable DRLs to the step-up seat and the white trellis frame with the first-in-class aluminium subframe; they all reek of the intended style and have been implemented well with quality being the focal point. Even the front and rear alloys are different colours, adding to the freestyler charm and spirit. The floating high-quality 5” TFT further accentuates the modern street naked look.

The performance is just as exciting and it is not just the engine either, it is the whole thing. Dynamically, the Apache RTR 310 is one of the very best out there. For some reason, we also feel that the engine, though the same as the RR 310, seems to have more character on the RTR 310. It is as much fun in the city as it is on open roads. It is as ballistic around a corner as it is in a straight line. In a word, it is what you want it to be and how you want it to be. Again, an example of the whole idea of Freestyler.

In a setting like Lodhi Colony, also known as the Lodhi Art District, the idea of freedom that the Apache RTR 310 represents pops even more. The place is chock-full of art. Murals wherever you look, created by over 50 renowned street artists from India and around the world. All the murals represent the artist but collectively, what they represent resonates with what the Apache RTR 310 is all about- freedom and creativity.

That is why we mentioned that the Apache RTR 310 is more than just a motorcycle. It is a piece of art, the sort of mechanical art that we love to love. It is a symbol that represents the core of motorcycling. It is a tool that lets you tap into your own idea of motorcycling. On top of all that, which is already a lot, it is a pretty stellar motorcycle too!
