Yesterday tried working throttle with only one cable...ie., only the pull which actuates the throttle when you twist it.There was no idling or acceleration difference, but the throttle twister went further down(clockwise) and there was cable slack at the carburettor end..There seems to be 2 inches of extra cable length . ..So it is possible to work the throttle with single cable...The second cable actually stops the throttle twist from reaching the end clockwise when we reduce it to zero...may be designed to save the twist from getting damaged and have a free rotation .

No in a quick throttle the larger dia spindle does the job, while here there are two cables from throttle twist to carb...while one pulls the other pushes...I guess it is to take off the slack in cable, and give a precise throttle feeling. The throttle twist also stops using the carb throttle valve stopper.
Parts 2 and 3 are the two throttle cables.

@PSR: I am having one question. Which part of the engine got damaged during knocking? Its the knocking caused by pulling the bike in very low rpm. Please explain.
