The CDI of ZMA takes approximately 150 Milli Amps (ma)at rest and engine idling, and increases progressively to 3 Amps as the engine RPM id raised....
In the fuse box the center fuse of 7.5 Amps is for the CDI only...it will be marked as " fuse ign"..remove it to test if CDI has faults....the left side of fuse is +ve and right side goes to the CDI unit...you can remove the fuse and connect an ammeter in place to know if any abnormal current flow is there...after disconnecting the RR also the bike can start and run Provided the battery is charged and has 12 volts....
Till date RR have failed, but a CDI had never failed in a ZMA

      Hello to all,

I am facing a serious issue with my bike's electricals. I have changed the headlight to 60/55w .At the begining there was no problem, but now while iam riding the electricals show some fluctuations like there is some low voltage including horn, headlight and even the signals.the focus of the light will not be visible for a while even the speed is constant.

Battery is an maintenance free..6 mnths old

      What might be the problem

      Please suggest.

Thank you sir for the comment. Will keep in mind this thing. Still, bike is in ASC. Will check this if any problem is caused in future.

Keep the revs high, preferably above 5k. Else the horns will fail when running in 55/60, especially if you have the habit of using both beams at the same time.

How much does the Osram Nightbreaker and Philips 55W bulbs cost ?

What is the difference between H1/H4/H7 ??

EDIT: H4 is the one with high as well as low beam. This is what we need in ZMA right ?

Osram nightbreaker costs around 550 bucks each. Normal philips/osram/halonix 55/60 bulbs costs around 75-90 bucks.

H1/H4/H7 are socket types depending on what headlight assembly you have.

Yes ,ZMA headlights are H4 types.

Thanks. The price difference is substantial. Why is that ?
Sorry for probing, I just wish to justify my purchase.

Substantial difference due to quality and output from similar rated bulbs. (55w, H4)

                  Osram Night breaker - 550/piece
                  Philips Xtreme Vision - 530/piece

These 2 are in the same league.

                  Now, basic 55w bulbs.

                  Osram Silverstar - 100/piece
                  Philips 55w normal bulb - 80/piece
                  Hella 55w normal bulb - 60/piece

The throw is significantly higher, hence the price difference.

Okay. And is the light of osram nightbreaker and philips xtremevision blue/white or yellow ?
I think yellow would be better thus looking for yellowish light ones.

Whitish yellow. I think I read somewhere that Osram Night Breaker is rated at 4500k which is close to optimal range of 4300k.

The Night Breaker PLUS spec says it has Color Temperature = 3600K.
So they would be more towards yellow tone I guess.

                                Please help me on this-

A problem has come up (since last week, but I ignored it). After servicing and replacing fluids and stuff at mechanic, I was fiddling with the carb at home to remove it so as to put WD40 in AFR screw that was jammed.
In an attempt to remove the carb I realised that the two screws that hold the carb are also stuck so I dropped the idea and put everything back as it was (pipes and stuff).

After that, went to tank up since reserve was activated. Since then the fuel indicator is not showing the actual fuel. It is stuck at Reserve bar. Also the trip meter and clock keep resetting randomly.

The battery is NEW. Checked fuses below the seat, all are fine.

What else to be checked ?
What could be the problem ?
