Re: Karizma/Karizma R
On turning key to ON postion (Engine is OFF), Ammeter shows current in the Ignition Fuse socket is in the range of 32.7mA to 33.0mA.Originally posted by psr View PostThe CDI of ZMA takes approximately 150 Milli Amps (ma)at rest and engine idling, and increases progressively to 3 Amps as the engine RPM id raised....
In the fuse box the center fuse of 7.5 Amps is for the CDI only...it will be marked as " fuse ign"..remove it to test if CDI has faults....the left side of fuse is +ve and right side goes to the CDI unit...you can remove the fuse and connect an ammeter in place to know if any abnormal current flow is there...after disconnecting the RR also the bike can start and run Provided the battery is charged and has 12 volts....
Till date RR have failed, but a CDI had never failed in a ZMA
On turning the engine on and idling, Ammeter shows current in the range of 119mA to136mA. It fluctuates too much. Then, the value of current increases on twisting the throttle, as you said.
I also checked Current in the Turn/Stop/Meter fuse socket, it shows 138mA on keeping the key on ON position. Engine is OFF.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Went for some mods today:
1. Philips XtremeVision 60/55w - Rs. 520
2. Bosch dual horns - Rs. 755
3. Amaron Probike Rider 9AH battery - Rs. 1550
4. A cutout for the horns - Rs. 180
Got these done from The Auto Sales Company in GP Road, Chennai. Labour charges were Rs. 375.
I also got a cigarette lighter installed (Rs. 70, and no, it was not for smoking but for charging the phone) but the 20Amp fuse near the battery blew up because of some short. I told him to remove the connections for now. As for the fuse, since he didn't have a 20Amp one, he installed a 15Amp one. Any issues?
Rode about 20kms after that, the light output seems to be on the higher side and the horns are way too loud. I don't find much difference between the high and low beams now though, but I am yet to go to a really dark road.
A few pages back people were talking about using both beams. How, in the world, can you use both low and high beams? Or, am I blabbering?
As for the ride, rode at around 6k RPM for ~10 min total, in bursts of 30 seconds (damn the signals) and at 6.5k to 7k for about a minute. The bike feels stable as if I'm driving at 60. Sucks coming back to lower speeds.
After the first time I went to 80kmph and came back to 60, I felt the bike to be smoother and calmer in terms of throttle response and engine rev sound. Anyone else felt that? Also it's kind of hard to go beyod 6.8k-7k rpm. AFR at 3.5 turns. Is it because of me shifting up at 4k, instead of shifting higher?Last edited by vijayvenkatesans; 09-22-2013, 11:25 PM.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Any four wheeler electrician from a garage can do it for you. You can put a stock oem car relay which can handle 55/60W which is standard on most cars. Ideally you will need to buy: the relay, about 4m good guage wire, a ceramic H4 holder if u wish, a ceramic fuse component, some earthing clips. Get the electrician along while buying them. This installation will give you a trouble free head light and full power of the upgraded bulb.Originally posted by ryan.virgo View PostWhere in Mumbai can I get this done?

Oil drain nut replacement
A couple of days back I asked my mech to change the engine oil . Even though there is no exhaust smoke and not much leaks , the oil remaining was very little . The mech was clueless . While tightening the drain nut he managed to shear it off ( main problem when tightening it - if it's not tight it leaks and if u tighten it too much it shears) . His inquiry over mob returned negative results as to the availability of the nut . Then he got a brainwave ( a light flashed in his mind kind of thing) and did a juggad .
On the left is the nut which was sheared off .
On the right is the one he used on my bike .
It's now above 150 km since it's been put on and no leaks or anything yet .
Anybody has any clue as to what it is ?
Edit - here's the pic of the top side

My doubt exactly, how do we use both beams at same time. ?! :OOriginally posted by vijayvenkatesans View PostWent for some mods today:

While on Low beam pressing the pass switch gives illumination from both high and low . I'm sure it is so on my bike , not sure about the newer ZMAs .
If u hav a 60/55 W bulb then you have to fit a relay to get the full potential of the bulb . But that might backfire if you have a 7ah battery or lower since the battery might get drained faster .sigpic

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Looks like a tappet cover nut to me.... Even the Zma's looks the same. They come in various sizes thoughOriginally posted by acs1207 View PostA couple of days back I asked my mech to change the engine oil . Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Alternative TL tire options for ZMR/ZMA (apart from regular stock tires of ZMR), from MRF available now. Front Zapper FQ 80/100 18 TL and rear Zapper Vyde 100/90 18 TL. Guess they are not in the market now. They would come soon into the market. If somebody wants them you can shoot a mail to MRF to arrange for the same in your city.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler
