Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Divya, I live in an apartment and my bike is well away from sunlight. I am doubting chennai's salty moisture or the quality of plastics. And for the 2.5 turns, yes I know its a little lean but I feel it is peppy enough and I have touched 130kmph several times with the same setting.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostTour De Thekkady

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
I'm probably going to get the Zoom Rear (seems a good tread pattern for highway and city use), and a zoom front myself (good pattern, with central groove). They said they have a lot of new models that are not in the site yet, so I'm going to check for myself. I suggest you go to the main Ceat Distri rather than any dealer, since dealers don't have a lot of knowledge or awareness about their tyres. They are just keen on car sales since the margin is greater. CEAT - ContactOriginally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostThanks for the info. Will check them at Ceat tomorrow.
I wish I was that lucky. No matter what I do, I can't get my FE over 30-33 in the city and 37-38 in the highwayOriginally posted by harishkumarko View PostWashed my bike yesterday. Must tell you all; HMC needs to improve the plastics.....its been not even a year after I bought the bike and I feel the plastics have begun to fade especially around the dash area. Is this a problem only with post 2011 zma's or is it a part of the all karizmas? Also I'm getting around 40 when ridden in mixed conditions. This has happened two times before. I have my doubts. I filled 2.51 liters last week and I rode to college and back home(with pillion on return) which was mostly highways. That accounts to a 70km journey. After this I rode mainly in the city. And as of now the trip meter shows 100.8 and the bike has not hit reserve yet. Could my odo/speedo cable be faulty? Or is my bike returning really good FE? Or is my math bad!!
PS: I am running at 2.5 turns.
You need to use a good wax (not polish) to protect the paint. Don't use wax on the unpainted plastics/seats. They range from as little as 200-300 (motomax) to 2-3K for the imported ones.Originally posted by harishkumarko View PostDivya, I live in an apartment and my bike is well away from sunlight. Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Bro I am talking about the non-painted parts like the plastic housing around the key slot, side panels(the black ones) and the rear fender. The painted parts are really good and shining. And thanks for reminding me about the wax. I haven't got one yet!You need to use a good wax (not polish) to protect the paint. Don't use wax on the unpainted plastics/seats. Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Ah ok, use a dashboard protectant then. Trouble is, you'll need to keep using it every couple of weeks to maintain the condition of the bike.Originally posted by harishkumarko View PostBro I am talking about the non-painted parts like the plastic housing around the key slot, side panels(the black ones) and the rear fender. Original Motomax Protectant Spray 100 ml A Pidilite Product. | eBay
STP Son of a Gun 118ml | eBay
I use STP Son of a Gun, it leaves the surfaces like new. Take care NOT to use silicone based sprays on your grips or footpegs, it'll make them slippery.

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Guys I am really sick of vibrations and khad khad sound from engine during first 10-12 kms of run from cold start.Even after riding 1 hr continous and stooping for 15-20 min, then again vibration start then fade away upto some extent ( not complete) after some run of 20kms.Going to first service tomorrow. Is it because of loose tappet setting in new engine?
Feel is that something is stuck in engine or drive chain.Very harsh sound.

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
When you go next time to check the new tires, could you please get all the info on what new tires available that are suitable for Karizma? It would be helpful for others.Originally posted by AK3D View PostI'm probably going to get the Zoom Rear (seems a good tread pattern for highway and city use), and a zoom front myself (good pattern, with central groove). Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Hi,
I was looking for a good product for my dull, faded rear fender for quite some time, glad that you posted this.
Can you please tell on which parts can I use the below.
I have recently bought the bike (second hand) so not aware of these things

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Sure, if it helps, I've posted the pictures of the rear tyres here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...tml#post983183 . I'll try and click some more if possible when I go to the main distri. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the zoom rear tyre since it seemed to be a medium compound.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostWhen you go next time to check the new tires, could you please get all the info on what new tires available that are suitable for Karizma? Which parts you can use what?Originally posted by g K View PostHi,

I have recently bought the bike (second hand) so not aware of these things
1) Use a wax (not a polish) for all painted surfaces (including plastic ones)
2) Motomax bumper black - if you feel you want to keep the bumper looking dark black like new. Keep in mind it peels off if you have a scrape or something, so you'll need to keep maintaining it.
3) A dashboard or plastic protectant for the 'sports' engine cover, the windscreen and dash and the non painted plastic below the R and L side covers.Last edited by AK3D; 09-27-2013, 01:56 PM.

So, this Original Motomax Protectant Spray 100 ml A Pidilite Product. | eBay is for the bumber (and plastic non painted parts)
and this STP Son of a Gun 118ml | eBay is for plastic painted parts and tank as well ??You can ride a Motorcycle any day of the month. ;)

Both are silicone base protectants, only for use on the parts mentioned in point#3 in my post above. Use whatever you can get your hands on, but STP is really good.
Use Motomax bumper black for your bumper ONLY.

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
This combo - Motomax Bumper Black Polish + Protectant Spray For Dashboard A Pidilite Product | eBay would be suitable for 'sports' engine cover, the windscreen and dash and the non painted plastic below the R and L side covers and BUMPER.
I hope I got it correct this time.
And, a wax for plastic painted parts + tank ? Any recommendations ?

Do follow the detailing thread too.
It depends on your budget really. You can get waxes from as little as 300 rupees, to exotic ones for more than 3K. Depends on you
I use Collinite 845 to maintain the shine on my bike.

Re: Oil drain nut replacement
My friend had the zoom on his cbz the grip was really bad and he changed it after just 3k km of use, I told him to go for the mrf meteor he says the grip is much better now. And I feel the mrf zapper fs is best suited for the front tyre.Originally posted by AK3D View PostI'm probably going to get the Zoom Rear (seems a good tread pattern for highway and city use), and a zoom front myself (good pattern, with central groove). Re: Oil drain nut replacement
Thanks for the information. I had nearly decided on the Sirac Street for the rear tyre, but after so many negative views about it, I decided to avoid that particular tyre.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostMy friend had the zoom on his cbz the grip was really bad and he changed it after just 3k km of use, I told him to go for the mrf meteor he says the grip is much better now. I don't trust MRF, particularly after a few skidfully scary moments at low speeds in the rains. Ceat seems to be a medium compound and it should be at least better than the MRF that comes as stock on the ZMA. Anyway, I'll see if there are other suitable models with Ceat and then finalize.
