And Sir, I believe theres a correction to be made. I believe most zma's go till 10.5(past the 10.25 mark). A month before I got my zma I rode a friends bike(actally senior) and the bike touched 10.5rpm on gear... And since the fibre had faded abit I thought it to be 11k and it was aneesh who corrected me that zma only has tilll 10k on tacho.

Its not about adrenaline rush bro. I have a brain and I always believe in using it, but the reason I rip my rides is cause, I've heard(not sure if its not a rumour) that if we ride at a constant slow speed the ride gets accustomed ans will never go beyond that speed after a certain period.

I know bro, it was really embarassing. But the P150 guy rode like crazy, he was riding the bike as if it was a cycle, we just waved past traffic and I was all conservative and all, once again cause I've got a BRAIN!!!

      Reply in BOLD.
the bike gives its maximum output at 7k rpm itself as we all know so no point in reving the engine beyond that unless you want the engine to wear out earlier and karizma is a longstroke engine we cant expect the peppiness of pulsar engines it gives the comfort it gives happiness and its pure ecstasy

          1. I would think you are too early with your ride expecting whole lot out of the bike.

          2. You should allow the engine to settle down a bit for at least 5000kms to make any changes to the carb (I mean tuning on AFR). It's ok for sometime if your bike not able to do the desired pick up. However, remember your engine is new and should take it up gradually.

          3. Racing :- It's not in my world of riding a bike, would still recommend to allow engine to run in smooth in a constant RPM. If were you, would gradually increase my cruising speed after doing some constant RPM. Not that I have not taken her past 110. It's how you imagine if the engine is strained or not.

          4. I had always kept my hands low on the engine even though there are scope to better the performance. Why? There need some run for the engine to adapt and respond to the tuning.

          5. Its a boon to have a biker forum with experts here to help how not a bike should be and what is expected. Having a fair idea on the boundaries and limitations ZMA-R, should consciously adhere to it.

          6. I'm not sure how much your bike done on the odo as of today, still would recommend to go slow on your experiments until you cross 5k on the odo to make changes from stock set up.

          7. Logically I might be wrong on some of my points here, would always respect the factory recommendations to suit the situation.

          8. Since the bike is under warranty, if I were you, will not shag my bike to void warranty just because I'm not able to go beyond 9.5k RPM or to seek top speed tests.

          9. Timing chain expected to lasts atleast 10k minimum. Imagine the abuse if you were to change it even before your second service.

          10. I understand the adranline rush everytime you ride the bike, you'll need to get sync with the bike and know what it is capable of to give some VFM. If you ever realize this, then there's nothing short of joy ride. This would elevate yourself to a better rider.

I know my points are very generic and is not contributing a solution to your issue. May be after servicing, give some thoughts to the above points to avoid seeing youself in such situation in future.

          These are my personal thoughts.
agree with you i really feel bad when i rip my bike in fact till now i have only done it only just once even during that i made it sure that it i do proper gear shifts and i havnt touched my afr and i always stick to the stock settings the only change was the headlight to 55/60 as lighting was very bad

Yes! And now at 3.5 turns I am getting around 33 km/L in the city. Don't know how so many difference in turns and so less difference in mileage.

And found what appears to be something similiar to oil stains near the head and crank case junction.
Even I had and still have an oil leak problem on the base of the head in the gear leaver side. Changed the oil seal on that small cap which is on that side and it was temporarily fixed. The threading on that cap was gone. Got it threaded later on during the head parts change and then the mech suggested just to put the O ring and not put the seal there. Did not ride in high rpms during the run-in and so the oil leak did not seem to be there. Now that I take it to high rpms, the problem has started again. Will go put the seal this evening and revert back.

one of the mechs suggest to check my timing chain, anyways will take the bike in on saturday.
The timing chain is not something you will have to change often.

Totally agree sir! Street Racing is not at all safe for you and others especially. You can have an adrenaline rush once in a while 'IF' and 'ONLY IF' the roads are totally empty. If you want to race, take your ride to some local race track and race to your heart's content!

See the manual...The plate left of timing chain is called timing chain Guide, to the right of it is called timing chain tensioner, and the commonly referred chain tensioner is mentioned as tensioner lift assembly.

Oh then the chain guide and chain tensioner had to be replaced. Cost around 100 bucks each. The tensioner lift assembly, the expensive one, was safe luckily!

                    • Sos: Urgent help needed!!!!!

                      Guys, I am utterly depressed.
My Karizma r is struggling to reach 80kmph on speedo(clocked 7K).
I have noticed this thing few days before, when I was coming to my office.
On 23rd July, I had a servicing done and drained the 300V - 15W50(used for 1.5K only) and poured a new one. On 24th I had a long ride (300km approx). On that day, I filled up my tank from a Highway petrol pump. The performence of the bike was superb. On 30th July, I topped up fuel the tank and had a ride approximately 350km. The road was utterly dusty and I was maintaining 100+ kmph throughout. I faced the issue while returning, the bike was struggling to cross 100 kmph mark.

Though, I don't bring my bike to my office, but decided to use my bike for few days for testing purpose and found that the bike is really struggling to touch even 80 kmph.

I have jotted down few reasons:
                      1. the air filter.
                      2. bad fuel.
                      3. need a carburetor wash.
                      4. the 300V 15W50 may be the culprit.
                      5. need to check the spark plug color.
                      6. the tyre pressure may be low.
                      7. I have found that the throttle is not moving freely.

I have changed the air filter today, as I had a new one kept at my home. But while coming today to office I found no improvement.

Today, while going back, I am going to drain the remaining fuel and pour fresh fuel from a good petrol pump.

                      Guys please do advice..........!

                        6. the tyre pressure may be low.

Can't help on what may be the issue, but maybe I can help on what may not be the issue.
                        4. have used 300V 15w50 twice, I faced no issues.
                        6. I have ridden with very low tyre pressure. Hardly any noticeable difference in speed/pickup. Oh yes, there is some, but very small and can hit normal speed as easily.

                        Have you checked clutch?

So, refraining myself from changing the precious oil.
Yes, Clutch plates / friction plates can be an issue, but I hope it does not worn out so early...... lets see.
The sityation is, while opening the throttle fully, I have found that the RPM and the speed is rising slowly and touches 80kmph mark and it becomes stable.

Need to check the RPM vs Speed ratio.

Just to find out max rpm the needle touches. I wont go over 8k rpm even during ripping,I dont take it to redline.
