  • Just to narrate a strange incident. after completing my evening prayers,i rode my bike towards home, parked the bike and after sometime the petrol leaks to the floor. upon inspection, i found that it was coming from the carb drain tube. i immediately checked if the drain screw is loose but it is not. i then proceeded to close the fuel tap. can anybody explain what caused this problem?

Never use used engine oil for lubing Chain,There will be metal particles in the oil which will increase the wear of chain instead of protecting it.Clean the chain using diesel and a brush, and Apply Bearing Grease,Available in most petrol pumps here.Which will reduce the chain sound by almost 50%.Tried and tested by PSR. or you can use new engine oil for lubing chain,I use HH 10W30 oil for lubing chain,Planning to switch to grease next time.

The tube at the bottom of the Carburettor is for draining the sediments from carburettor bowl...This cannot leak unless the screw is loose or anybody had tampered with it...otherwise you should have some crack in the carburetor bowl..
try to drain out the sediments by opening the screw and letting the petrol in the bowl to flow out....make sure you open the tap only enough to drain it and close it immediately...and also do the procedure when the Engine is cold..

          • Did some mods this morning. Fixed a relay for the headlight. Tested the output now. Looks good. Will hit the highway if possible tomorrow and revert back on its performance.
Put a switch on the fairing and am using it for the indicator as parking/hazard lights(both the indicators will flash). Love that one too! Will be useful when it rains or when the visibility is less.
A well spent Saturday morning. Thanks to Vineeth and others for your inputs. Will post some pics tomorrow.

Visakh you ought to try some grease. Many feel it is better than oil when it comes to lubing the chain. The normal grease does the job but bearing grease does it better! Give it a try sometime.

Even though SAE 90 is recommended for lubing chain,Most of the people uses Bearing Grease and Engine oil to lube chain.Bearing grease seems to be more effective than engine oil. Try it and let us know the results.

actually i was using 10 w 30 oil to lube the chain but after every 75- 100 km the chain starts to make noise as i travel above 60kmph most of the time and i didnt buy grease because i believe grease will result in more sludge formation than oil eventhough lubing interval is more for grease

Oil will be thrown to the sides and chain case while running, this wont happen in the case of grease. Also its better to be lubed than dry even if its dirty.

the problem seems to be gone as of right now.i unscrewed the drain screw and retightend it.today i bought a bosch spark plug for my bike (model YR 7 DC) the nut is small compared with the existing one and the dealer sticker shows it for cbz.don't know old/new and there is no guide as to which spark plug goes specifically to which bike in the site.

                              • My Karizma - sold

Some are difficult things for me to do... selling my bike. Yes, i had to sell my 2009 Karizma (9500kms odo) fitted with Michelins and Givi rear box. I sold it to my friend for 55000rs. He knows my passion for bikes and knows that I spared no expense or effort in maintaining mine in top condition. No, i am not on waitlist for a CBR 250. I must confess that I salivated over a Green 650 bike... but with family commitments and city traffic, i am not sure my 2wheelers will be put to good use. My bicycle however seems to be receiving my patronage. It takes me faster to the daily shopping grind and back (thanks to my ability to cross traffic signals as a pedestrian)... still thinking of my next ride....
