Man, use flux gum to stick your fibre parts. It really holds karizma tail for atleast 6 months. It costs around 50rs.. Much better than super glue... Try it...

hasn't anybody tried bosch spark plugs?. the problem for me is the nut is small and cannot be tightened by the tools supplied with the bike.

Thanks to Vineeth and others for your inputs. The relay came with the circuit diagram making it easy to fix.

        ITEMS BOUGHT:
-Headlight Relay(Available in all car parts shop) - Rs 180
-Thick wire(Again available in all car parts shop) - Rs 10 per metre(I bought 3 m)
        -Other small small reusable things.
How much the difference you get in light output?

A Saturday morning well spent. Hope it was useful and feel free to reply or PM me in case of any queries.
How much this paint spray cost ? is it gives smoothness also as we feel on grabrails ? & where you found it ? in paint shop's or hardware accessories shop ?

          Thanks for the info sir.

Got a chance to test my headlight with the relay at 3 a.m today cos of my lousy room mate. Had to ride for some 10 km at that time. The difference is very much noticeable and the spread is simply amazing!! In low beam the road in front of me is so well lit up and the same in high beam too. But the range of the high beam is a bit less. But I can cruise confidently in speeds up to 60-70 km/hr. The spread is more like the light of a car. So guess its very good enough. Finally got a solution for my headlight. Now wondering how it will be if I plonk a Philips Extreme + 100% 55/60w instead of the Philips Premium 55/60w which I am using now..

I could not find that in the shops nearby. Will get that soon and fix it when I dismantle the fairing next time.

A bit less than Rs 200 for the 450 ml can. Bought it a couple of weeks back so do not remember the exact cost. Yes the paint quality is good and smooth. I found it in a two wheeler parts shop.

Yes,i know there are many other alternatives instead of Super Glue.Just need to find out how to remove and refit the rear fairings. That was the main intention on doing this job. also will look for the above glues here. Thanks for the inputs guys.

I recently bought RE electra so i want to check the resale value of my karizma (sep 2006 model,25000 km done,UP registration). People are quoting very less value as karizma is not very popular here in UP .Bike is in very good condition.

What should be minimum price i should sell it ?Please help.

                    Regards,
                    Amar

I bought 2005 ZMA done 33k for 25k but had to replace the tyres and battery immediately. So you can guess the price for the 2006 model. Anything above 35k imo is a good price.

                    • Parts replacement

                      Hey guys,

I went for a regular check-up of my babe to the Castrol Bike point in Gurgaon and got a prescription to change the following parts and their prices. Could you people help me with actual prices of the parts and if can be done some other alternaties :

                      1. Disk plate - Rs. 1290.00
                      2. Chain set - Rs. 940.00
                      3. Gear shaft - Rs. 390.00

As for the chain set, can I go for the chain set for P220 or any other with lesser no. of teeth in the rear to increase the top end? The mech told me ZMA has 42 teeth at the rear. Please suggest.

Also I am thinking of getting my chain cover opened up permanently so that it becomes easy to lube the chain. Any pros & cons of the same?

                      Waiting eagerly for your replies.

As far as I know, the rear sprocket has 40 teeth. I believe it can be replaced with the sprocket of P220. I think Steveburnside has done that.

I am no paint expert but as far as i know, a primer is used to hold the paint to the object. In the paint spray can, the instructions told me to just clean the surface and spray the paint. It did not mention primer anywhere and so I did not consider it too. I have sprayed 2-3 coats. Looks fine as of now. Lets see how long it holds.

                            • And guys a quick question..

I took my bike to a pitch dark road last night. This is where I test my headlight usually. As I had mentioned earlier, the spread is amazing. But the high beam seems to be focussed down a bit and so the length of the beam seems to be less. There is a speed breaker on that road. So I just took the front wheel a few cms or an inch or two above the speed breaker and boy oh boy, the spread went as far as my eye could see!!! My thought is that if the fairing is raised a bit, the spread is much better. I thought that as it is a 6 year old bike, maybe the front fork springs could have gotten a bit compressed. The front suspension is not that good too! I replaced the fork oil recently but still it is not satisfactory. So is there any chance of the spring wearing off? Will replacing the springs help to increase the height? Or any other ideas to increase the height of the beam?

^+1. You MAY apply primer for increased longevity of the paint. It's a good practice to apply primer, but for small parts like these, its really not worth the effort. Just spray and spray more if you want better finish, after the previous coat dries up. If after several months the paint dulls/turns flaky (which is rare if you spray multiple coats), spray again. PS: Cleaning the surface is a must though, best if done with Isopropyl alcohol or similar liquids.

BTW, did you try adjusting the reflector using the adjustment screw? I think the screw changes the angle between the beam and the reflector, so would help to an extent.
