    Two niggles:
    1. Between 3.2k and 3.8k RPM there is a sound as if two metal parts are hitting each other as they vibrate.
    2. Been having this since day 1: When the engine is cold (say when taking it out in the morning), it misses a few beats in the 2-3k range as if there is no fuel (even after idling with choke for 15-20sec and and without it after that for ~10sec). After riding for sometime (~1-1.5k) it becomes smooth.

Btw, does changing the engine oil to anything other than the one's mentioned in the manual void the warranty?
Glad you got it sorted out.
1: Check fairing etc for vibrations - make sure all bolts are tight as well.
You could insert rubber pieces/two sided tape to reduce vibrations to an extent. See if this solves the issue.
    2: Normal

They have no way of knowing what oil you use until you tell them. If using mineral oil, ensure you drain within 1500 kms.

        Thanks will check that.
So, I guess I will change the oil as soon as this one wears out.

200km change is too soon, change first at 500km and next after 1500km

yes 200km is indicative mileage .. the idea is to change the oil once before first service so as to drain the metal parts which could come in to oil from a new engine... if u choose to change at 500 then change at 1500, if u change at 200 then change at approx 1000-1200 or during first service.

i think first service is between 800 to 1000 kms, so changing at 200 to 300 helps. you can then change oil straight at first service.

How a crash guard can hit front mudguard? Did you mean engine guard?

I don't think Hero can offer five year warranty on electric components like starter motor. You should go through the warranty terms and conditions in owners manual or hero's site.

Generally warranty on bikes in India covers only ENGINE AND GEAR BOX. Nothing else is covered. Everything else is covered by your insurance. Well almost. Depending on the type of insurance product you purchase and/ or the severity if its an accident case.

And they have used this oil for years, not just once or twice. And there is an RTR too which used this oil for years and he does near redlining. Even recently I have given this oil to one R15 owner, and he was very very happy with the performance. And remember, Petronas is a reputed company worldwide for their lubes. Its hard to believe their oils scrape engine internals. Of course, you can believe the metal scrapings are because of oil, but its hard for me to believe so.
An awkward comparison, don't you think?, Cause Motuls which make the R15 run so smooth don't work on the ZMA, But coming to the RTR, the Gulf Pride which works fine on the ZMA, craps out within barely a hundreds Kms in the RTR. But then again the Motuls that work fine with the R15 works wonders on the RTR though it doesn't work with the ZMA.

The way these oils work often does confuse me.

And people opting for the crash guard, yet it will scrape the mud guard. To prevent that tie the crash guard to a lathe and press the part where the u clamp goes through, now fix it on the bike and using a hacksaw blade cut of the excess portions of the uclamp.

Now I had reprinted mine after the lathe work, for the gloss finish.
