Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Dot3 is older spec brake oil...it absorbs more moisture, has less stability, and deteriorates much faster( 6 months~1 year)...and it's wet and dry performance is lesser compared to DOT 4.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostSir.. the DOT4 brake fluid is not easily available in the market.. can you just tell me the difference between the DOT3 and DOT4??
Dot 4 absorbs less moisture, has better thermal and compression stability, and deteriorates slowly both Wet and Dry conditions...(1~2 years or 12,000 Kms) .
Here is a very good link on brakes......

I guess I will have to wait for the weekend to get it.. did the mechanics clean the oil pipe or something when changing the brake fluid?

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Drain complete brake fluid through a cloth or a pump..like a medicine dropper.....no need to open the pipes or get them empty....but it is recommended to change oil during a disc pad change...Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostThats quite far from where I stay

i recently get my front disc pads changed...during that time i change to DOT4....for rear i just change oil...no disc pads as they still in very good condition...

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Will ask Mech which grade oil was used when replacing brake fluid.
Compared to RTR where I had to just squeeze a few mm to feel the braking start, here I find the brakes to be a bit spongy at start and bite comes at end.
Maybe its more of adjusting to Zma's braking characteristics. And yes Engine braking is too good when you downshift.
The water drain hole under tank cap was clogged. Temporarily disconnected the pipe as it gets clogged very often in rains.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The water drain hole from the tank is routed to ground through a large rubber pipe...there is no way it can get clogged...I think you have a kink in the rubber tube in the middle near center of chassis...when I bought my ZMA as pre-owned I faced the same problem and found the kink in the rubber tube and straightened it...in two years never faced a repeat problem.... RTR and ZMA have different brake setup and feel...in ZMA the brake is progressive and grabs only when you increase the lever pressure to full...Originally posted by New guy View PostWill ask Mech which grade oil was used when replacing brake fluid.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Took everything apart and cleaned every bit of the fuel line, installed a new fuel tap as well. The earlier mentioned bogging while accelerating after deacceleration is still there, happened after 70kms of riding. Why is it so?

Does she gets off while in that stage or just boggs & becomes proper??Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostTook everything apart and cleaned every bit of the fuel line, installed a new fuel tap as well. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
When the bogging starts i just crack open the throttle and shes back on her feet. But even though she bogs, she does idle well. Something somewhere is fishy! Dad suspects the sp, but since its iridium i ruled it out, bit another thing to consider is that its approximately 30~40k old. But am reluctant to change it since its a self cleaning plug.

pixantz: Hows the wet grip of this Dunlop. The stock tire sucks big time. Also does dunlop have a profile for the front tire?Originally posted by pixantz View PostI got it for 1660/- without tube as my tube is new Dunlop one already so I didn't get a new one. But it would normally cost about 1750/- and about 2250/- with tube. Seems like medium compound. Real grippy. Its bliss after that awful Sirac Street.
