The higher the turns the better the performance but not so better the economy . The newer ones come with 2.5 turns I guess . Earlier it was @ 3.5.

Thats as frank as I could get.
Now what that means that if you want a bike to be more showy and want it basically as an to-office-and-back kind of commuter bike with better average, then you might love the ZMR. If you've been riding a Karizma-R or older ZMA for some time, you wouldn't go for a ZMR. Unless you fall in love with the looks. But if you've not ridden an R, then you just might get smitten totally. On its own ZMR's not a bad bike really. My opinion. The Karizma will give you and average of 35-38kmpl with mixed riding. A bit more for only highway. Hope this helps

I am sorry to say.. I have used the Karizma for 6 years and the ZMR for 3.5 years for now.. and I know the difference between the ZMR and the ZMA-R.. just for an info.. the ZMR has better performance compared to the Karizma.. handling might be a little concern but once you ride the bike for 2 days.. its very easy.. i sneak through the busiest traffic in Delhi/NCR..

Yes.. you might say that the bike weighs 9kgs more than the ZMA-R.. but again.. the ZMR is a FI and it definitely is more responsive to the throttle.. the ZMR is more refined thanks to its FI technology and mind you the ZMR has as good acceleration as the ZMA-R and a better top end.. advantages of the ZMA-R are its own.. but I would suggest you not to under estimate the ZMR.. there are drawbacks in all the bikes..

What are the exact mileage figures of ZMA in city nd highways.. if its less than 30.. it will be disappointment..

Let me remind you.. the ZMA-R has been in the market for now 10 years and it has proved its reliability.. cold starts are an issue with all the bikes that have a carb..

ZMR/ZMA-R use the same engine and the output of the ZMR is 0.6bhp greater than the ZMA-R which is cancelled by the 9kgs extra.. You have made a wonderful choice in booking the ZMA-R and the color selection is fantastic.. a classic color..

The ZMR has no problems till now other than very few minute issues that every bike will have here and there.. the vibes are there in all the bikes bro.. at the end its what makes a bike.. you have you to compromise on some loses when you get other gains in a bike..

now coming to the Fuel Economy.. the Karizma if taken care properly during the Run in period will definitely give you an avg above 35kmpl in city and on highways above 40 kmpl.. shifting at proper RPMs and not red lining the bike..

the ZMR on the other hand will give you nothing less than 40kmpl in city (insane riding) and nothing less than 48 kmpl on the highways.. i got an average mileage of 56kmpl on highways when i toured to Kathmandu, Nepal.. and least on highways was when I went for a Sunday ride to Chandigarh at speeds above 95kmph and touching the top speed during rain which was 44-45kmpl.. that too with less air pressure on both front and rear tires..

Personally I don't like the zmr at all, not for the performance but the looks are just ugly, it looks lik a normal bike which is customized badly by adding that bulky fairing, no offence to zmr owners, just my opinion.

So its decided the Karizma R..

Previousl i choose the white color.. never saw grey color in real.. saw only on the website.. but when i saw grey and white in the showroom for real.. i finalised grey.. it looks like raw finished metal..

Thumbs up to your choice. You'll never regret it. Just like to share one more ZMA experience: One member of our ZMA group had sold his Zma-R after crashing it. Then he opted for new Zmr. Though he never was really happy with it, neither were we. None of us even wanted to ride it on our long tours. See, we enjoy the carburator equipped ZMA a lot more. One day on one of our tours he just rode one of our old Zma from our group and touched 140kph and had a great time. The next day he decided he wanted a Zma. Sold the Zmr after riding it for 11 months. Today he's a happy Zma-R rider . You're ready for the roller-coaster ride too. Keep us posted.

Thats your personal opinion and no one can say anything against it.. my point there was to say zmr is not less powerful than the zma.. and yeah.. zma might touch 140kmph..

Let me remind you.. there is something called speedo error.. when people say rtr touches 144kmph and pulsars touch 148kmph.. we say thats bull shit.. speedo errors.. bit when it comes to our bikes we think its true speed.. i personally love both the ZMA and the ZMR.. thats not gonna make me say the zmr is the best bike ever just because i own it.. we have to look at facts.. if people are not happy with their choice.. it is obvious they look at things in the negative manner..

Anyways.. my point here is.. i used to own a 2003 zma from 2003 till 2009 and my dad sold it off without my knowledge after shifting to delhi.. i was upset as i never wanted to sell it.. but i got a zmr here in delhi and i never regretted for it.. i am a happy owner and i sure can feel the difference.. if i had regretted my choice then definitely i would look at everything in the negative way..

One incident where i wanted to test the zmr when this guy was revving hard on gurgaon expressway with his zma.. so i chased him and i overtook him every single time.. i let him go ahead of me and again i overtook him.. top speed i touched was 127kmph that day.. then we both got stuck up in traffic.. he came upto me and said.. u ve got an awesome machine but dont ride like that.. this is my profession so if anything happens to me or bike i wont have problem.. cheers and he left..

Acceleration of his bike was no doubt a little better but the grunt and pull of zmr was better.. anyways.. i love both these machines so if given a choice to have another bike with a budget of 1l.. i would choose the zma and would never regret..

                    PEACE..

The difference between a ZMR and ZMA can be felt while riding in final gear and cracking open the throttle at around 30~40kmph, plus the ZMR while riding feels like a car.

I am taking your comment as a sarcastic one when you say it feels like riding a car.. do you mean to say the size is too big and bulky that you can't get it through or zip through the traffic? or are you saying it is steady and comfy like a car?

I am taking your comment as a sarcastic one when you say it feels like riding a car.. do you mean to say the size is too big and bulky that you can't get it through or zip through the traffic? or are you saying it is steady and comfy like a car?
Cant think of a better way to explain it, while riding some bikes you get the security and feel of riding a car. And considering zipping through traffic, ZMR winds hands down, due to no cv lag on quick throttle open and closing, courtesy the PGMFi

Please stop this unnecessary ZMA versus ZMR debate.

No one can deny the fact that ZMR has advantage of PGM-FI which has its own plus points. But on the same time no one can also deny the fact that ZMA is quite capable machine which comes at a price point much much lower than ZMR (of course I know ZMR's feature which somehow justify its cost).

Both are good machines and we should be thankful to Hero/Honda that they have not discontinued the ZMA - the legendary machine even after the launch of ZMR around four years back.
