Thats a fact. Its the case everywhere. Normally everybody thinks that if water gets in the tank, its through the tank lid. False. Though it is ONE OF THE CAUSE, the more common cause nowadays is that the water goes into your tank mixed ALONG WITH THE PETROL FROM YOUR PETROL BUNK!! This is a fact. Actually, petrol bunks have quite a lot of places like air vents or overhead covers etc from where rain water enters the main reservoir and then enters your tank along with the petrol when you tank up. And then it settles down in the tank and starts the mischief.
The method I use to avoid this headache is that I fill petrol from only one or two fixed bunks where I'm sure I wont get water, especially in the rainy season. My bunk literally has plastic and water proof material covering all open gaps. Will post pics of this very soon. Basically its a trial and error method and I've been doing this since three years now with perfect results. One more thing I kept in mind was avoiding old or renewed bunks where the underground reservoir had more chances of being leaky/ or prone to accumulating water. Both the bunks I use are new ones. Hope this helps.

Mate, i have heard that this is a incresingly common tactic by the petrol bunks. They pour water into the storage reserviour so that the petrol at the bottom of the storage reserviour rises above the water as water is more denser , so when the tank is almost empty it still is easily able to suck the petrol at the very bottom which is filled with dust anyway. So apart from the dust chances are water also gets into your tank.
Now another thing is similar while filling from bunks when they have just refilled their storage tanks from the tanker trucks, in this conditiin the petrol will be fully mixed up with the water and dust or sediments in the storage tank. The petrol will settle only after some time in the tank when the sediments and water redt at the bottom of the storage reserviour.

Mate, for this try this method. When you get that feeling. Stop the bike, open the petrol lid and wait for about 10sec. It will release any kind of air bubbles in the tank or fuel lunes and the problem should vanish.

Cheers

It looks like my biking woes are continuing. I'm hearing a cycle-chain-like-screeching sound from somewhere around the engine. What could it be? I've observed it only today and it comes only if I accelerate. If I release the throttle and let the bike roll I do not hear anything.

I'm planning to take the bike to the SVC tomorrow evening. Any thoughts before that please?
ravi@17bhp: Thanks for that bro. I see that you changed the brake oil. I should try that coz the front braking is not smooth; moreover when I apply it I can feel the lever pressing like tuk-tuk as if it's not properly lubricated.

You can only imagine how much I wish I can do such things without going to the SVC. Whenever I ride the bike, I'm so impressed by the smoothness, but when I think of the service Hero provides it's such a revolting feeling

Not sure about bycycle-chain screeching, but if it's a squealing kind of sound then it could be that oil is not reaching vital engine parts like cam-shaft, rockers, etc

I tried observing it closely today. When I started to work this morning it was quiet. But after riding for about 2 km it started. It is not continous nor the bike's smoothness is affected. I can hear it on and off but it's consistent.
If I put the bike on main stand and turn the rear wheel, i can hear the sound emanating from somwhere around the engine. I get the bike regularly serviced, then why me

I will bro. Thanks for that. The SVC guys in Bangalore at least gave some respect and listened to what I had to say. Here in Pune, they're as if "so what. leave the bike here. we'll take a look". I'm not the type who'll argue or shout at them. I realized I'm trying to reason with an unreasonable system.

All in all I'm just back from the SVC. It looks like my ZMA atleast, understood me. I can't hear the squealing sound anymore (for now). I'll shoot off a mail to Hero and scout around to find some good mechanic who can atleast do something as instructed. (I'll get the instructions from here )

NGK G Power is a very good choice for Karizma. We used it two years back and it was really good.

Could somebody please educate me as to how much fuel will be left in reserve. Feeling ashamed to forgot it after using Karizma for 3 years. Not finding the manual.
