When starting the bike, dont use excess choke, when the engine fires, open throttle and close choke, BUT! no excess throttle, just keep it at 2k for a few secs and it will be able to idle on its own. Just like FI's do it.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Must be the tappet setting, get it checked at the next service. Happens if the measurements are off. The mechs will adjust it to the required setting and the problem should go away.Originally posted by nithin2767 View PostI am hearing a small tak tak sound from the engine since a week. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
My observation after the Pondy ride yesterday with Chennai xbhp group.
My bike info:
ZMA-R - 2011
Odo: 23000kms
Engine Oil - Mobil 1 10w40 fully synthetic (done only 200 kms)
Sparkplug: NGK G-Power
AFR Turns: 3.5
I was taking the bike for a long ride after nearly 7 months, so took her gently say 80s. After some run on NH45, started to hit three digits without much fuss. Reach destination took a break for an hour and took ECR towards home run. After some 50 odd kms, I had lot of nostalgia (seniors should know this well), bike started to give trouble. In the sense, if I close the throttle when need and opened it up, it takes time to get the flow as if someone stopped the fuel supply. This also lead a problem while overtaking, when the bike did not respond to the throttle rather late, though there was enough time to get pass before the opposite vehicle could close in, for a moment it pulled up my drowsy ride to an eye opener.
At one point stopped and opened the tank cap checked/blowed the tiny hole as I thought it might be something blocking the air, and that was an airlock experience. But it go in vain.
There was another member joining after three years we both used to ride when I had Unicorn earlier. He just quipped saying, 'just like Unicorn?'
Well, had to meet a guy in Kalpakkam so I let all the other go. After taking a small break and while returning, I did not face any issue. This even complicated my understand on the whole issue.
Initially thought it is something got to do with Airlock/Petrol Cap/Carb etc. Now after the break, bike behaved normally. So where is the issue. I'm willing to give my bike to anyone who wanted to go for a long ride and give me a feed back. (Chennaiites).
I got a long ride coming up early next month and need to sort out this issue. I start to believe the age old superstitions that the problem is with me rather than the bike. Lol.

Lol yup this problem used to happen on my unicorn too, I got my tank and Carb cleaned and never faced this issue after that.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostMy observation after the Pondy ride yesterday with Chennai xbhp group.

Not sure if you completely read my post here. I did not face the issue while going towards Pondy and also while in return. Wondering why I faced the issue in between?RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Even my bike used to be fine then suddenly the bike would act like the fuel is over nd turn off, then after a few kicks nd opening and closing the tank lid used to start it back nd again it would be normal.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostNot sure if you completely read my post here. Calling doc here.. psr Sir.
Need your inputs here. I'm sorry if my issue sounds very repetitive and old. I had been to AP and Orissa last year and did not face this issue where I had most of the time running three digits. Now there's a war inside my head. Who's the culprit?
1. Tank
2. Carb
3. Fuel Tap
4. Tank cap
5. All of the aboveRX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
First would be to check Petrol tank for deposits, then the spark plug cap for heat failure, then the spark plug for life(if it is more than 8K Kms) and ofcourse the throttle slide for deposits..We can do the easy ones first..ie., change spark plug ( if more than 8 K Kms old), change plug cap to Non Resistor type, Look inside tank with Torch for deposits, and take the Carburetor apart and see..Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostCalling doc here.. @psr Sir.

The ECR route does seem to put a hex and a whammy on your bike..

It might have been some particle in the fuel that clogged the jet, stopping for a while and restarting might've gotten rid of it. (I know that it's a very simple explanation, but well...)
The other issue could be the slide (as psr pointed out) sticking from time to time. It might only happen once in a while, but when it does, performance would be affected. Do clean the jets once you open up the carb and check for deposits (and whether the holes are clear)

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
AK3D I have faced, carb slide issue, cdi issue, r r unit, tank and carb cleaned in the past.
Well, I can check once again the tank and carb for any surprises.
I guess was the first posting issues to slide stuck. Then Psr sir helped resolve and now I know what to when next time when bikes doesn't go beyond 80.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
@SriramEfunds I too had a similar kind of issue last month, my bike would suddenly give me a feeling that its running out of petrol and I need to switch the knob to reserve (but the engine would never shut off). In my case the problem was water in the tank. Got the tank thoroughly cleaned at the SVC, according to them the petrol bunk where I used to fill petrol was at fault, god knows how rain water started getting mixed in their petrol. I stopped filling petrol from them, no problems till date.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostCalling doc here.. @psr Sir.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
If the bike was fluttering then the case also might be of water-lock, if you were riding in the rain or if the bike was standing in rain for a long time. Check for any air-gaps on the petrol-tank lid or anyway near the intake - (manifold rubber)
Otherwise its mostly something to do with the quality of petrol. Did you fill fuel in between your ride? If so a bad quality of fuel can also cause this. As psr Sir suggested check spark plug and tank and petrol tap for any sludge to eliminate the easy and most common problems.sigpic
