Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Are you serious buddy? Thats appx 200kms after the last marking on the fuel gauge starts blinking, correct?Originally posted by pixantz View Post
As for reserve, on the ZMA, normally after the Reserve dot starts blinking, your bike would run for another 150kms roughly, before actually going into reserve. Now either thats deliberately kept as a precautionary arrangement or then the HH guys didn't bother to calibrate it properly. But its the case with all Karizma's. So no sweat

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
When the last bar starts blinking, there would be approximately 4 liters of fuel in the tank, of which 2 liters is reserve.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Check the Ignition switch /wires for loose contact, and check for Air leak through AFR screw...Originally posted by pixantz View PostHaving some weird problems with my ZMA of late. Not using it much because very busy so didn't follow up on the problem much.
Anyways, the problem: 1) Bike starts hiccuping when rolling off from standstill. After a few wrings of the wrists it pulls of and runs okay until I come to a standstill again.
Then the same thing when rolling off.
2) The above mentioned problem is not constant. It happens for about 15-20 kms and then vanishes suddenly just to return again randomly
anytime, mostly after 20-25 kms or so.
3) Sometimes the bike just stalls if rpm descends under 1.5rpm and then takes about 7-8 selfs to come back to life again that also only if I turn
off ignition and turn on again.
4) When the bike is running fine, it still feels a bit strained and slight knocking if ripped hard with pillion especially, but still runs very smooth. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Just now opened the air filter compartment. There is a thin layer of oil (no droplets when swept with finger). And surprisingly, there is some sand there in the compartment. I am clueless as to how it entered the compartment. I will post the pics soon.
PSR sir, the thin film of oil is after 2200 kms. Hope the blow-by is in limits.
Also, I have inspected the spark plug. It looks good and nothing suspicious (G-power plug). One peculiar think i noticed is the base is biscuit color (indication for rich mixture) on one side and white (indication for lean mixture) on other side. AFR at appr. 3.25 turns. Is that normal? I have taken some photos too. Will post them soon.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Ravi : The cover might not have been tightened properly i guess, had experienced this once.Happened more so in Summer due to heavy dust in the riding atmosphere.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostJust now opened the air filter compartment. Update:
One of the head bolt(the one next to timing chain cap) screw's threading gave up due to over tightening of the same. So got it re threaded and using an oversized screw. Almost 3K kms after it was done(Most of which was long distance riding), its holding up. Odo at 70K now. OEM head assy costs around Rs.5300/- for black and Rs.4200 for the older grey/silver one. Labour+lathe work costed Rs.300/-

Yes everything seems to be in order.....AFR at 3.5 will give better acceleration ..Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostJust now opened the air filter compartment. Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Same pinch! I tell ya its either an air leak or the bloody climateOriginally posted by pixantz View PostHaving some weird problems with my ZMA of late. Not using it much because very busy so didn't follow up on the problem much.

off ignition and turn on again.
4) When the bike is running fine, it still feels a bit strained and slight knocking if ripped hard with pillion especially, but still runs very smooth.
Things I have changed/replaced as general/routine maintenance recently: 1) Clutch Plates and Hub-Center
2) Ignition Switch(problem has started before I replaced it)
3) Spark Plug
4) Cam-Shaft and rockers
Troubleshoots I have done so far: 1) Checked by replacing CDI(Rectifier is brand new, about six months old)
2) Thoroughly cleaned carb and air-filter
3) Double-checked on timing
4) Carb tuning
5) Checked tank for presence of water. Negative.
Things I plan to further do: 1) Change whole carb with one from another bike and check
2) Check the AFR-screw
3) Replace the carb Diaphragm and check
4) Change the Ignition coil with another one and check
5) At last if nothing works then try switching the magneto coil...
I think that this problem is either carburator oriented or then an electrical glitch. Now since most of the major electrical components are really good quality on the ZMA, it's kinda hard to guess the culprit. Am I missing out on something here guys??????

Mine was problem free after the afr screw change but after completing around 100~200kms the issue came back, im suspecting the grease with which i had sealed the AFR screw pit has been washed off. Or its something about the climate.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Hello guys.. i have recently booked Karizma R Grey Color.. will take the delivery of the beast after rains..
I have been going through the posts.. and hav heard lot of cold start problem and less mileage issue frm the karizma R compared to Zmr..
The zmr has a full fairing which later on vibrates and has lot of issues..
My friend had issue regarding the same.. he had to replace the fairing which incurred cost of 37k..
What are the exact mileage figures of ZMA in city nd highways.. if its less than 30.. it will be disappointment..
In a dilemna.. please help resolve my confusion.. should i stick with the zma or shd go for zmr.. ?
Any dealers in mumbai which fit hid kits on the karizma R.. do let me know.. the first thing that i will b doing after buying is hid kit fitment

1) Karizma/Karizma-R has better performance and handling than ZMR.
2) That performance comes at a cost of about 6-8 kmpl in favour of the ZMR.
Thats as frank as I could get.
Now what that means that if you want a bike to be more showy and want it basically as an to-office-and-back kind of commuter bike with better average, then you might love the ZMR. If you've been riding a Karizma-R or older ZMA for some time, you wouldn't go for a ZMR. Unless you fall in love with the looks. But if you've not ridden an R, then you just might get smitten totally. On its own ZMR's not a bad bike really. My opinion. The Karizma will give you and average of 35-38kmpl with mixed riding. A bit more for only highway. Hope this helps
