Just got my Black ZMA - R Today. Simply amazing. I've kept it below 4k rpm but the moderate traffic wasn't ideal for running in. The ride is phenomenal, worth it all just for the seat

    Observations:
Engine was pretty warm after a short run but it had only clocked 0.7kms when I got it so expected I suppose.
Finding Neutral was hard after a while
They're now including an Exide VRLA battery Welcome to Exide Industrial Battery. Seem to be of an acceptable quality. Any news on these?
Horn was unexpectedly loud, nothing special but tenable.
Plastics on the controls are crummy but better than the P200.
The Plasticy parts of the rear panels aren't a perfect fit.

Overall very very satisfied. Many thanks to ashwin, sriram, psr, pixantz, worrisomebear, divya sharan and all the other members of the forum who helped and encouraged me to get a ZMA when others would have me ignore it as an obsolete relic.

Still running on stock battery mate. They're better than we expect of them.

And about cheap fibers, my rides seen Hell and yet I still run stock fibers, only one of the rear panel mount cracked, and that was cause I tried to squeeze a bottle of soda under the seat(my bad). The key to keep fibers for long is to double tape the every piece by piece of the front fairing and use custom rubber washers on the rear panel screw mounts.

About the battery I had read that they were using some crappy brand instead of just using exide, so I was very happy to see exide on the battery warranty card. Thanks for the advice on the fibers seems handy

EDIT: Should I worry at all about AFR even though its new, you never know with the maniacs at the ASCs?

Yes brother i did change them along wid the front disc pads. I was quiet satisfied with the first set which i got with the bike, but the spares are real shit. I think the servicing centre guys bluffed me with duplicate spares.

Congrats in choosing the Karizma -R....Since we know which setting gives what result, there is nothing to worry about.....it is a time proven Honda engine with reliability..you can set any AFR you like as per requirement from 2.5 to 4.5 turns...but fiddling around too much on the AFR screw will lead to air leak and destruction of the screw and carburetor.....so be gentle and careful in setting the AFR...
            God Luck..

Congratulations for the new ZMA-R. Do proper run-in before opening up the throttle. Remember, no hard acceleration. Initial 400-500 kms, keep the rpms at 4-4.5k rpm and try to ride in traffic (to avoid riding at constant speeds). Next 500 kms you can go up to 5k rpm. And then next 300-400 kms up to 6k rpm. Always maintain progressive acceleration. Better change the engine oil at 200 kms.

Regarding plastics, when you get to open the panels, apply M-seal around the joints to provide additional strength. The problem with ZMA panels is the weak joints.

Dont worry about small niggles so soon. Let her run more. So gears are gonna be a bit hard which should get smoother with first oil change and then even more on subsequent oil changes. Cheers!

As I always say, riders should NOT BE FIDDLING WITH THE AFR SCREW THEMSELVES!!! Especially with a new bike. Of course, I cant forcibly stop anyone, but its not a push button on-off kinda situation. And yours is a new bike sir. As far as I've seen, even if you buy a new sealed caburator, the AFR is set perfectly and you have to just fit it and zoom! So same goes for the bike. The ASC guys dont have a reason to touch it. Unless you've got your ride from some oversmart over-zealous smarties... If there is some serious issue, then you might consider. Chill and enjoy her )

So far I've played very safe with gradual acceleration up to 4000 RPM. Its pretty awesome reaching 60 on the speedo with just 4000 RPM on the Fifth gear. Thanks for the M seal tip, I'll try that.

Yep I'm hoping so too, the engine itself is super smooth, it really is a luxurious feel

Well so far all seems well and seeing how AFR is supposedly delicate I'll stick to stock settings for now.

Avoid parking you bike in the open. If you dont have a basement or roofed parking then use a proper bike cover when parking it long hours.

Meguiar's is good, diamond cut was my fav, the shine lasted for quite a while.

Also do consider throwing out the engine cowl and get a crash guard, and dont forget to double taping at front and using rubber spacers at rear.

SAE90 gear oil is the beat chain lubricant for the ZMA, lubing the chain once every 2k would be fine.

While washing the bike dont use a spray directly using a hose, wipe soap wipe would do.

Change brake pads at 10k to be on the safe side, along with SP and AF.

As a rule of thumb the AFR is best when set at 2~2.5 TURNS. But personally 4 Turns does the magic for me, but then again it may not work well for you, due the altitude difference.

Its high time we set up a FAQ post for the ZMA, so it can help new and prospective owners, by saving them the trouble of going through the whole thread.

                                Cheers.
