    4. periodic chain and sprocket cleaning. remove the front sprocket cover as well to clean chain.use diesel, wd40, 2t oil to clean chain. if you replacing the sprockets and chain cover, do this every 6k or so kms
    5. engine oil drain periods around 1000kms
    6. Tyres might need replacement more from safety perspective
    7. Replacement of brake fluid. more from safety perspective
    8. airfilter and spark plug change every 10k kms
Thanks Guys. So I'll go ahead and will have the throttle cables, clutch cable ,chain sprocket complete set, airfilter and spark plug and brake fluid (it was topped up only once). I had the rear tyre changed to Sirac street.
I have an authorized HH spares seller right in front of my house. So do you guys suggest me getting these changed with the authorized SVC station or shall I buy the stuff, replace whichever I can (with help from here) and approach a mechanic to have the others replaced.

This is very much relevant as I had the rear tyre removed and fitted as my earlier tyre had patches. Now it's replaced though. I asked HH SVC to check for balance of the rear wheel and they suggested that I replace the Mag wheel as it's out of shape; said it'd cost me a cool 5k. Now that you have mentioned sirac, sirac is a heavier tyre, u would have been better with m45 or pirelli sport demon. the alloy wheel for zma is around 7k i guess.. if it is needed, please replace

Anyplace you comfortable with can be used to carry work

Sirac was a heavier tyre, sirac street isnt. Also the alloys of CBZ extreme are a direct fit for the zma. Its infact the same alloy with a diff part number for which HMC idiots have jacked up the price. I am currently running on it. CBZ alloys costs around 3.2K

Are you sure the alloys are same? in terms of size they could be but ZMA alloys are ENKEI made...I dont think the CBZ are same make.

100 percent sure. I am currently running on one. If you are so worried. You can ask for zma alloys and ask your friend to just enquire about CBZ extreme alloys. They will give from the same rack and bill it with different part numbers

The Enkei make is embossed on the inner side of the alloys. can you take a pic and post?

This is true. I dont know if everybody is aware but almost half the parts on a CBZ(especially classic cbz)/ extreme are exactly the same and fit perfectly on a Karizma. And last the same. HH just packs them separately giving a different part number and jacks up the cost for the ZMA part to almost double in some cases. Disc pads, callipers, gaskets, levers, alloys, brake pads, mc-kits, cone sets, you name it. Those who know this have saved a fortune on parts. Including me

                  • Re: Karizma/Karizma R

Completed 1500 kms after the rebore. Initial 500 kms were in city and the last 900 kms on highways at speeds 70-100 kmph. Seems the engine is doing well. In today's ride of 300 kms, I maintained speeds around 70-90 kmph; the last 50 kms at 90-110 kmph. The engine heated up a bit than when I maintained speeds at 70-90 kmph. Have been using Rimula R4 for the past 1000 kms and no side affects found.

A special note: The engine beat is very hard, like loud hart beat or like a palpitation. I could feel the loud beat in my hands (only at idle). This was there even before the rebore. This kind of beating I haven't seen in any other Karizma. Any inputs or ideas in this regard?

And, there is a humming/resonance noise from the front area when riding at speeds. If I apply brakes, I can hear it decreasing. Its more like a tyre noise that we hear from lorries or bus. The front tyre is Michelin M45 2.75 x 18. Hope its not a bearing noise from the engine.

I've read in this forum or elsewhere that the Philips bulb does not sustain the rattles of the road and the ZMA.

Check and see if the rubber mounts on handle bar mounting brackets have perished......Engine bearing noise will be like a howling...which is why it is called "bearing howl ". The noise is different from bearing failure at other places...the closed space of engine resonates and you will hear a howling sound in tune with engine RPM ...if it is the engine bearing.

Its not exactly like howling. Its more like a tyre noise. The sound reminds me of tyre noise from lorry on highways. When I apply brakes, it reduces and comes to zero at low speeds. Does bike tyre make noise? The front wheel runs very smooth without any vibes or noise, and the front wheel bearing was changed around 10k kms back.

In a down slope, I switched off the ignition at speeds. The noise was still there and it reduced as the bike looses the momentum. Also I tried to listen to the engine by tilting down my head left and right (on an empty road), and I couldn't find this noise from the engine.

This noise was not there before and I am sure of that. I am not bothered much as this is not causing any problem to ride. But, just would like to know from where its coming and can this be an initial symptom to something big.

Nothing happens. The beat is same. It feels only at idle rpm. It goes away when you increase the throttle. This was there before the rebore too. At that time I thought this was due to piston slap. Even after rebore, its still there.

Is it the thumping at idle? Which causes the handle to visibly vibe?

Sometimes a worn-out chain also makes a similar noise as described by you.

Take the bike upto 50kmph and then pull the clutch and turn off the engine. If it still makes noise then you can be sure that the source of noise is other than the engine.
Both wheel bearing's and chain's noise increases with the speed of bike.
