Hi friends , I'm planning to take my bike to Tanjavur for an official work.. Total 370kms approx (one way).. I need your suggestions for me to plan for this ride..
First of all a big sorry to you all... I'll not join the group until I get the basic gears..
Riding jacket & a good helmet is pending from my side.. Just got my 1st experience with gloves (Probikers one - its not comfortable)..
I saw this post by Ananth mentioning to do 500/650kms a day for the upcoming trip...
Considering if you're riding for 500kms , how long you'll be riding continuosly and what is the ideal break in b/w each halt...Originally posted by Ananth View PostNow it depends on how much we are willing to ride on Day 1 / Day 4 ? 650? 500?
My earlier experiences are very little , I'd rode a max 410kms a day(two way)..
Please give me some inputs...

Buddy - your post is titled "Adios ~" which means farewell in Spanish. So since we haven't met , I'm a little confused if you're leaving us or joining us -
In any case if you're leaving wish you good luck and safe riding and if you're joining us in Chennai, hello and welcome!
Or "Hola ~" as one would say in Spanish! Either way, Cheers!

Take NH 45 route till Trichy(4 lane). From Trichy to Tanjavur again 4 lane road which should take an hour maximum by bus.Originally posted by gmagesh14 View PostHi friends , I'm planning to take my bike to Tanjavur for an official work.. For now, try Cramster and it is much better. Later can upgrade to better one.Riding jacket & a good helmet is pending from my side.. Just got my 1st experience with gloves (Probikers one - its not comfortable)..
Yes, upcoming road trip will be atleast 500-600kms on day 1. We usually try to limit number of breaks to cover the distance, however, bio and butt breaks are taken when required.I saw this post by Ananth mentioning to do 500/650kms a day for the upcoming trip...

Well...this is more of personal preference, which depends only upon you.Originally posted by gmagesh14 View PostConsidering if you're riding for 500kms , how long you'll be riding continuosly and what is the ideal break in b/w each halt...
If I'm with group, I go with what the group decides. If I'm solo on excellent highway, 1st break - 250th Km for fuel , second break...destination
.
Without venturing, you cannot measure your limits. Talking realistically, friend of mine & fellow community member did Munnar to Chennai under 12 hrs on his GS150R. Total distance of 740+ Kms. This is the capability of your ride, anything more or less than that is your limits.Originally posted by gmagesh14 View PostPlease give me some inputs...Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

@Sriram bro :: that was indeed a very helpful info... thank you sri.
@Aargee (Ganesh - right?):: Since you're all in regular long trips, you would've learnt how to adjust the distance and speed for a relaxed trip.. (No SS or BB here)
Thats why I asked your inputs, regarding how you're managing and planning accordingly for the long trips.. I think now I made it clear..
Any information/tips regarding this will be much helpful and knowledgeable for a newbie rider like me...
Again, I really know I can get this things cleared from the Offline meets too.. Will make sure I get the things done before I join..
Thank you Aargee.

This reminds me of an Education my younger friends had while we were all returning ,to Chennai ,in a Tempo Traveler on Jan 29th Sunday evening . Near Tambaram a Green Ninja and a red /Silver CBR250 were seen just ahead of our vehicle, and the youngsters became animated and said now we will see some fast riding, wheelies, etc., from these two riders... I let them shift to the left side seats, and asked them to observe ,what was going to happen..needless to say there were no stoppies, or wheelies,or weaving through traffic..even HH Splendors were overtaking them...Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View Post- Long distance rides need temperament and maturity. Old timers don't mind newbies provided they can ride in a disciplined and controlled manner. That's why you're asked to join in on shorter rides first. We don't want to have a stunt-happy, wheelie popping idiot along on a long trip - he's a danger to himself and the others.
- We believe in safety first. Helmets are mandatory. Other gear like gloves, knee-guards and a jacket are a must for a long ride. If you don't have boots, wear good sturdy shoes - floaters will earn you a box on the ears!
Follow the above and I promise you'll have the time of your life, make strong and lasting friendships and experience things that your friends will envy you for.
My astonished friends asked me what is this ?why are they driving like this ?...I told them like everything in life, driving also needs DISCIPLINE,and respect for others, and what they just saw was just how it is done...It was an Eye opener, for the youngsters with me .
The Ninja has number ending BK 7600

. The CBR rider was wearing a red jacket? That was Ravi and me, returning from Kodaikanal. We would have waved at you, had we known you were in the vicinity
