Avoid the online tool-kits and offers. Most of them have cheap components and are flimsy. Suggest you go to a proper hardware store in Parry's and buy or assemble a kit there. You can buy the box and put in the different tools as you want. Many years ago a company called Madras Tools and Tackles used to do this - check with them.

At the very least, even if you buy a branded pre-assembled set, its likely better quality than the Naaptol stuff.

    • Nishant - this is my humble collection about 2 years ago; I've not even used half of all these until now. List down the activities that you can do & intent to learn. Go to GP road one day & buy tools for all the activities that you can do & keep visiting the shop as & when you learn.

Here's a very basic article that can help you identify some basic tools that you might need - Guide To Select Essential Home Garage Tools - A Must For All DIY's

If you intent to treasure your tools, settle for nothing less than Eastman (if you've budget); you can get imported ones like Stanley sold at GP Road. Get some good & very essential tools, like torque wrench, hammer, screw drivers from Pferd or Wurth. They cost a hell, but, the immense pleasure that you get out of holding them at work is priceless.

      • RIDE TO VEDANTHANGAL BIRDS SANCTUARY :

The plan was started like a month before but canceled twice so this week I made up my mind to go for it and most of our seniors are having busy schedule not able to participate for the ride.So finally it come's down to six members everyone is new except myself, I kinda little bit concern because I don't know how to lead the group or giving instructions to them. we always depend upon Sriram, Nishant or ganesh for giving instruction but this time I need to take care of them, Even though the group consist only six members.

The Plan was set for Sunday morning Ride I was at the meeting point around 6.10 Am, And I thought am always the First one to appear but I was wrong new members Madhav and Gaurav already came and they went for morning tea.we guys met after a small intro Raj and Rakesh appear [R15 Twins ]. Last but not the least new member Kaarthick came. Gave few tips and Guide regarding the group and we started around 6.40am.

Reached Chengalpattu Toll gate and another serious discussion about the group riding and formation, Because me and Rakesh not satisfied they way we rode till chengalpattu.

Again from there we started and in no time we reached small Village where we need to take right cut for Vedanthangal. And After some intense discussion happened near toll gate, Everyone maintained the formation and kinda happy about it. It was 7.30 am after small confusion whether to have breakfast now or after but finally we decide to eat and finish our breakfast.

          • After the breakfast we started and for few kms the roads are pathetic but later wow.. We never expect the village will be super awesome Single lane no traffic and we are happily cruising and reached vedanthangal. Parked our bikes and got the entry ticket.. Finally we are Here.

Started clicking The sad thing sun was opposite and am not able to focus or take good picks No other Go and started to identify few birds by name which are mentioned on those board. And while me and rakesh interested in taking shots I mean Picks others had a healthy conversation regarding about their bikes etc.

            Few Picks:

            • Finally we reached the End point and we cannot cross over the lane so here we sat for few min and took some picks.

While we took rest for few min, Me and rakesh joined the conversation which is started from the Engine oil and the conversation took some interesting curves and goes on fighting about KTM and 200ns and finally end up saying Oh hail Bajaj Ha ha ha.. others Poor fellows very well influenced By me.. But am sure If Ganesh Or Sriram Or Sunny Presence over there, I would have keep my mouth shut Heee

While we decided to leave took a Group Picture and moved from there

Started from there It was pretty fast ride while we returning, And around 11.45Am we reached near SRM and from there Raj and rakesh decided to visit there college and everyone said good bye and From there I reached my home around 12.15 and While returning I was very happy thinking about the ride.

I Know, It's a short trip and few members but still I was very happy the way I lead the group and Also felt very proud about others the way the act matured I must say thanks to Xbhp. To create such a biking community and Every people know there limits and rules we need to follow while we are on roads. Though we miss seniors I mean everyone but still We guys had fun

Ride safe Everyone, I hope for next ride we will make it large

              Cheers.

              • @Nishant :- In GP Road, there is a hardware/tools shop next to Rehman Autos which is next to HDFC Bank, Satyamoorthy Bhavan when you go towards Mt. Road. The shop will be on your right side.

@Avinash:- Good to see you had a wonderful ride. Pics have come out brilliant.

                          • Being my first ride with xBHPians, the Vedanthangal trip was an interesting eye opener for me. I along with half a dozen of my friends have been to Yelagiri, Tada and Pondy and back, but it was on this trip when I realized the amount of precautions and discipline one needs to have if the group has to ensure being together and safe.

The time spent was more than worth the amount of expectations and excitement that I had built up for this trip.

Thanks to Kaarthick (sorry if spelt wrong), Raj, Rakesh and a special thanks to Avinash for making me extremely comfortable. I'll get my riding gear next and will be hoping to join you guys on a bigger trip.

For now I have two SOL helmets (ACME and 68s-Unicorn). Resisting myself to pick one from new stock.

It was an co-incidence that none of the seniors happen to be on the ride thus giving you an opportunity to lead the group. You have earned one experience even though the group was small. Newbies will not be able to translate all the gyans we give while on riding, seniors will need to do some observation and give them feedback which is very important, else they will never know. Good job indeed.

Good that you were able to take cue from the ride. Hope that helps you going froward. Having done some trips so far, still learning from every road trip. So learning is endless..

Hope you buy all essentials when it comes to riding gears. Get few more rides with the group to your credit.
