2016 Dakar Rally Stage 7 resulted as the most difficult stage for top three teams with most of the riders withdrawing early from the stage. Antoine Meo from Red Bull KTM team was fastest during the stage result with Kevin Benavides, HRC at second and Paulo Goncalves in third.
Red Bull KTM’s Matthias Walkner was helicoptered off the stage following a bad crash. Earlier it was Rockstar Husqvarna’s Ruben Faria, who was helicoptered after crash and suffered a broken arm. Even HRC’s top rider Joan Barreda was also towed to the finish lane due to mechanical failure though he completed the stage and was still technically in the race.
Sherco TVS team rider Alain Duclos and Joan Pedrero finished the stage 7 in top10 overall ranking with Duclos leading at 9th position. Both the riders rode together during the 7th stage. Duclos finished 13th while Pedrero 14th separated by 0.005s. The third rider Florent Vaysadde finished the stage at 34th with overall standing at 36th place.
