Stage 8 was resumed after a day of rest in Salta. This was the 1st stage to feature navigation through sand dunes. Toby Price was unrivaled in the 534kms stage. This was his fourth stage victory of the 2016 Dakar Rally, he beats Poulo Goncalves by over five minutes, the Honda rider crashed early during the stage and broke his navigation equiptment, though manages to finish the day second fastest with Rockstar Husqvarna’s Pablo Quintanilla at 3rd place.
The two Sherco TVS Riders Alain Duclos and Joan Pedrero are performing consistantly well so far in 2016 Dakar Rally, both have managed to put themselves into top 10 overall ranking. Duclos was classified 13th in the eighth stage ranking while Joan Pedrero has moved up at 9th overall place. The third rider Florent Vaysaade has also moved up to 31st in stage as well as overall ranking.
Stage 9 will be the shortest day of riding for the 2016 Dakar Rally Competitors, with 436km total distance and a 285km special. But not easy at all, as it will also be the start of second marathon stage, that means once the riders enter Balen, they won’t be able to have contact with team mechanics.
