A beautiful painting is home at a lavish art gallery. Writings look their best when done in ink on a crisp piece of paper. A BMW GS looks the best in the wilderness and an M4 Competition on a racetrack. These are all things that we find and admire even when out of where they look and feel their best. But that doesn’t change the fact that they need a place to complement their character for them to be at their best. For that very reason, we had been looking for a place to shoot our quirky MINI Cooper S, a place that can gel with what we have turned it into. Fortunately, we found just the place.
Before that though, a little about our MINI Cooper S because context is important. For us, machines are canvases. While thinking of a design for xBhp’s first sports car, we had a few things on our mind; #20YearsOfxBhp and Acer. Why Acer? Because here at xBhp, we are suckers for gadgets and Acer is a swift predator of that game. See what we did there?
We have had the Predator Helios 300 (for heavy editing and gaming) and an Acer Swift 5 (for when I am on the go) for a while and they have coloured us impressed in more ways than one. Along with Acer, we also had Hollyland and Logitech in our minds as well, for obvious reasons. So, with two laptops from and some nifty stuff from Hollyland and Logitech, we got designing. What we ended up with was a sort of two-face livery for our MINI Cooper S. One side of the car represents the spirited, jazzy and powerful Acer Predator Helios 300 and the other side inspired by the suave and serious Acer Swift 5.
Moreover, our beloved sports car is also home to two key elements that represent xBhp; a sprocket and an aperture, representing machines and visual arts. The colours used this time were faux carbon fibre, grey, and glossy red with black and blue used wherever required. And just like that, our MINI Cooper S was ready. As you can see, the palette is rather full of colours and now, let us talk about the place.
The tiny form factor of an Acer Swift 5 does not compromise on performance. It can still chew up and spit out the most demanding computing tasks.
In terms of a place, what better than graffiti to complement our quirky sports car? And there’s just one place in Delhi that has enough to do justice to the background that our MINI Cooper S deserves- Lodi Colony, or more specifically, the Lodhi Art District. An open-air art gallery in its own right, this area in Delhi is such a sorted convolution of colours that it draws one over, over and over again.
We have done our fair share of shoots in this area and it was the first one we could think of when thinking of taking out our MINI Cooper S for a photography trip. As expected and as you can see, neither our car nor the place disappointed us. While we will be on the lookout for more places that can hang with the design of our MINI, I think we can just marvel at what we have here till then.
The Acer Predator lineup is built with one thing in mind no compromises. Despite being a ‘laptop’ the amount of computing grunt it has can put some desktops to shame!
